Got to admit I'm feeling a similar kind of apathy.  Of course we're still going to come on here because we're Villa fans and we stick with them through thick and thin.  At the same time when you're flirting with relegation for a 4th season in a row you're going to start feeling a bit worn out.

And in all my years supporting Villa we've never gone this long with such a poor team. 4 relegation battles on the trot. Ellis at his worse was never this bad, yet still no protest from the fans.

I think it's because under Ellis we had a voice.  A lot of us were shareholders so we were part of the club and could have our say.

Randy Lerner owns the club lock, stock and barrel.  What can we do?

I think it just needs a breaking point to come to a head. Under McLeish it was Bolton at home - the point where fans can take no more and come together to voice opinion as one, forcing the ownership to listen. The feelings on here are the same on twitter, facebook, villatalk - things are gathering momentum that soon wont be stopped. If we lose convincingly to Norwich it will come then. If not we may lose a few in the difficult period and it will come next time we lose convincingly to a direct rival for relegation.

He may win the odd game to keep it at bay but the goodwill has gone and alot of fans are now against him

The Bolton game finished a moribund McLeish. The fickle banner hurt DOL irreversibly and Doug let him hang himself.
And Houllier's 2 utterly abject performances v Sunderland and Wolves at home when it was made clear many did not want him.

Obviously this was coupled with the fact we were in relegation scraps each time. If we lose on Sunday I think the anger will arise from the current apathy.

So for fuck's sake Villa go and win. Give us something to cheer about.

I do wonder if PL has any idea how big a game Sundays is for him, his team and the Club.

I wonder if he realizes this could be the line in the sand moment with the fans if things go pear shaped. I've seen and heard nothing from the Club to make me think they are anything but completely oblivious to it.

Well apparently there was an 'inquest' held by the team after Sunday's defeat.

Where did you hear that? Here's hoping they pull the finger out from now on.

It looked like Guzan was giving Delph (?) a real bollocking after the goal and followed him up the pitch into midfield. He was not a happy camper.

True, but what was said would go entirely ignored, though, there wasn't any practical effect of having that voice.

I think the only thing we can do now is hope something changes, and things improve. Which is the way it always was, well, for decades, anyway.

I would guess he knows the score. He knows Lerner and Faulkner are behind him but he also must realise the fans are at breaking point and if they turn against him a a very big and public way there is usually no way back and owners act.

As for the inquest and Westwood's comments I totally disagree about not pointing fingers. Behind closed doors sometimes the time comes for just that. I think for example someone like Roy Keane would have been pointing fingers in the current United dressing room a long time back and almost certainly for the better.

What was the verdict? death by neglect?

An 'inquest' needed days after a 'team bonding' jolly to Portugal.
For gods sake!

What's also annoying me at the moment is the local press, especially the Mail who put no pressure whatsoever on Villa even though we're going through the worst period in 25 or so years. Back in the day we had journalists who had the balls to stand up to the club and print what they wanted. Now we have sycophants like Kendrick and co who are frightened to upset anyone just in case the club takes away there ability to print Ashley Westwood's favourite colour or Benteke's favourite brand of sunglasses.
The local press are now nothing more than mouth pieces for the club.
