http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/crystal-palace-1-aston-villa-0-match-report-jason-puncheon-ensures-palace-are-all-but-safe-9256503.html

"Lambert also maintained his recent line that Villa have progressed immeasurably from last season, even if the actual numbers of the table don’t indicate that.

When pressed on it, and why the Villa manager thinks they’ve improved, he became agitated in hinting at issues behind the scenes. “You don’t know what’s happened,” Lambert said, before adding: “It’s private, I’m not going to tell.”"

Strange. Most likely just some bollocks excuse for losing, but maybe, just maybe, there is something to these new owner rumours after all?

"it's private, I'm not going to tell" to me is a shot fired at the board. He might be right but when you start making those kinds of suggestions then the sands of time are running out.

For him and the board.

Yes that's what I read into the Mail Article.

OK if it is fired at the board than it's hollow. After last season he has been in charge for two transfer windows. He has bought more players this season and his squad from last season is 12 months on with experience so No Lambert the buck stops with you. Your team has shown no improvement and you have shown no improvement.

Damning!

After today, Paul Lambert's league record in charge reads:

Matches 71
Won 19
Drawn 18
Lost 34
Points 75
Win % 26.76%

Only Billy McNeill (21.95%) and Alex McLeish (21.43%) have a worse win ratio than Lambert, who is below the likes of Tommy Cummings (28.33%), Graham Turner (31.43%), Jo Venglos (32.65%), Dick Taylor (33.60%) and David O'Leary (35.88%).

A savage indictment of the last two seasons, and I fear things may get worse, given the crap records he's already broken.

Whatever has happened does not have any bearing on the last 4 results unless he has no command of the Changing room.

In the evolutionary chart of a manager being fired, we are at the pointing fingers stage. I don't blame him entirely but Lambert needs to hold himself accountable for much of what has gone on this season.

I think he has been sacked with effect from the end of the season whether we stay up or not.

I cant help but think the team would play with a bit more freedom once Lambert had gone. Liverpool away proved they are capable of getting the ball down, passing it and making runs off each other.

I was suggesting the same earlier in the week. That the board really does not want to sack him and will give him as much benefit of the doubt as possible because they are in large part as responsible for the current situation. These last 6 games in my opinion were his chance to keep his job but the results will dictate everything. It's going to make it impossible for board to keep him and these little comments are all indicative of his time with the club ending.

I am going to bed to dream of the days when we would have swatted Crystal Palace like a gnat.
