"There's a lot of stuff people don't see"

Reference to the players not getting his tactical wizzardry?
All the practice they do to defend set pieces?
One player in a c&b shirt not seeing another in the same colours?

I'm not sure whether our Paul is trying to create a conspiracy theory as his cover story when he gets slung out, or whether Faulkner and Lerner are supposed to have reneged on some agreement about spend and player acquisition ...

That appears to be another not so subtle snippet from one of our clubs managers that things are not right behind the scenes. Not a shock but its really annoying.

The takeover speculation may be bullshit, but I'm convinced it will happen in the near future.

That sounds like an honest interview. I'm glad he will put villa before himself and I believe he will. I beleive He knows we can not continue the way we are and not struggle unless something changes.

What is crazy,  amongst all the terrible football over the last 2 years we have also scored some of the most exciting and best team goals this club has scored for a long time.

He will be gone in the summer, I reckon unless he gets funds he will quit.

The general gist of that interview is that he is at breaking point and he has identified things need to change.

In a way that is progress and suggests he is prepared to make some tough decisions whereas most managers are too stubborn to change and carry on with their normal formula.

I've still seen enough from his villa over the last two years to make me much prefer him over Mcleish

An awful lot of problems but this stuff about him being clueless or not able to pick a player is just wrong. I really don't understand what happened but the football villa we're playing this time last season with a bunch of kids and lambert signings was the most exciting I've seen at villa in years

I'm not saying it will work out now, it has the feeling of going wrong and we clearly need some kind of change. but let's be honest around half the teams in the league will say their managers aren't good enough at the moment (or have already sacked them on that basis).

I'm not saying it would work, but replacing Culverhouse might be the sort of change that lambert could introduce.  It'd partially explain the 'behind the scenes' thing and if he got the right man in, the good football of 12 months ago could return.  It's speculation but at least he's acknowledging that 'one last throw of the dice' is needed.

I cannot but applaud his honesty and it does make a refreshing change.

That said you can't fool all of the people all of the time and the home performances and results against also rans like Stoke, West Ham, Fulham, Palace, Sunderland have been abject. Too many of them to be 'unlucky' and he has a big part in the way those matches seem to follow a similar pattern.

My interpretation, FWII, is that fans are no happy and this season seems to be following TSM pattern. Season tickets renewals are likely to be down on last year, though which sort of financial wizzard thought it was wise to increase prices is another matter, where the board are starting to be uncomfortable. Not necessarily for the money - the increased TV revenue will cover the shortfall, more the continued perception of being utterly irrelevant in the Premier League.

To me this is a public '...Give me more time (money) plea...' to the Board but a more subtle one than Clarke managed last summer at the Albion

Comparing Lambert and McCLeish makes little sense. They are/were both terrible in their own way.

We played some good football during last season's run in, but in my opinion it just papered over the cracks and as when this season started we reverted back to the normal hoof and hope garbage with the occasional decent result thrown in.
Lambert is every bit as bad, if not worse than McLeish and we have to cut our losses and rid ourselves of him before he takes us down. The stats are appalling and he's clearly not up to the job.

I do think that Lambert's better intentions will carry him further than McLeish in his career, but for us at the moment you can't argue with the results or the performances. So far, he just hasn't hacked it.

I really do wonder what it is he's referring to that people don't see. It reminds me oddly of MON, who used to suggest that he was conducting frighteningly complex magical rituals behind the scenes, and that we shouldn't judge by the surface. I have to admit, I'm not buying it.

Agree with this completely

He is not good enough

I will never know why he says I thought we were brilliant after most games

I think he will be gone in the summer

Harsh on O'Neill. He produced consistent results, unlike the disaster that is Lambert.
