I've got a major problem with bringing Bowery on, he isn't good enough for the Premier League.

We clearly need proper investment.

We also need someone who can make sure any such investment is spent wisely and not wasted on players who are subsequently deemed not good enough / not ready to feature in the team.

If the absentee Landlord and Corporate Bullshitter had a clue, Lambert get fired now.

They should be talking to Cowans and Macandrew about taking over for the last 6 games.

There is absoloutely no point in sticking with him now

Lambert's substitutions have been bizarre at times but today's Bowery for Albrighton switch was the weirdest of the lot.

I've no problem with bringing Bowery on at that point but why take off the bloke most likely to put in a telling cross.

The move for me would have been to take off Bertrand and go three at the back
That's exactly what I said at the time.

The only flaw to this argument I'd say is go back to the April 2012 period and the McLiesh thread that was live at the time and I bet you all the same posters were saying all the same things; "we're going down", "we can't defend", "we can't string 4 passes together", "there is no manager out there who could do worse than this".

Well Lambert is having a good go at it!

Maybe as a club we're just on a massive downer at the moment. Certainly there doesn't see much direction coming from the VP boardroom other than just stay up in this league on a shoestring, the mimimum requirement for this club should always be a top 10 finish. It's not like that's some mission impossible or something, you're talking around 50 points, last season we finished on 42 I think so asking for another 8 point improvement shouldn't have been impossible.

It is clear Lerner isn't as interested as the early days and I'm sure in an ideal financial climate the club would be sold. This means we're just bumbling along in the league quite similar to how Newcastle were for a few years before they eventually went down.

The real issue I have is if we do sack Lambert, just what will they come up with as a replacement? Imo we need someone from abroad as if we are going to be stuck in the bottom half I at least want to see us as good to watch and I'm fed up of us employing british managers who say we need to win more home games but then play teams that are rigid, are weak technically, counter attack and have little midfield creativity.

IMO we sack Lambert and we'll be straight onto the answerphones of Malky Mackay and Steve Clarke as they have "premier league experience" and we'll be having these exact same comments in April 2015 as we have 36 points from 35 games or something.

Although I find it hard to imagine that either of them could do a worse job than Lambert, the last thing we want is another fkn Scottish manager as they clearly work like a curse on our club!

Get Pochettino.

I was thinking the same. Things aren't exactly going to be rosy at Southampton in the near future with all of their financial troubles. They'll likely sell some key players too. He likes to play the game properly too.

I am sad to say that the only ray of hope of getting rid of our clueless manager is the attendances .Only 33,000 there today and three thousand of them were i believe Fulham fans. When our equally clueless owner sees dwindling crowds,he just might act.

33000 - based on 4 years. Yes 4 calendar years of shite home form the board will see that as a success. And I suppose it is.

Get Pochettino.

It's easy to say that or Laudrup. But they've already down well at mid table clubs and overachieved with them. Our name is not enough anymore to attract good managers.

If we couldn't attract a decent manager when we were finishing top 6 regularly and had some really good players in our squad post MON then we're not now.

I think the thing we really need is a takeover and new energy and ideas in the boardroom as I think we're spinning in circles thinking we'll stumble across the british Guardiola by appointing one of them every two years.

an effective manager could get more out of them as a unit, I'm sure. With Lambert, we're doing worse than we should be doing with this squad.

I genuinely think he makes us look like less than the sum of our parts.

I also now genuinely believe that our decent results have mostly been despite Lambert, rather than because of him.

Like the 2 previous incumbents.

I would argue that we've been on a "downer" for a number of years now.  Going back to Houllier's time, there haven't many periods in the following seasons when we have been safe from the threat of relegation.

I'd hope there was some sort of performance related break clause in the contract.

This made me laugh.

This is from an Owner / CEO who didn't have a contingency plan when O'Neill fucked off, recruited (eventually) an ill Has Been Domeneque fan and side kick stooge who messed up in record timeand followed this up with the single most disastrous appointment in the modern history of Villa.

This little lot cost us the best part of £15m including a fairly hefty goodwill payment to our near neighbours.

And you think they have the vision to have a performance related clause.

They were going to offer him a new contract a few weeks back.

Poll reset?

No need to. Anyone can click 'REMOVE VOTE' and then vote again.

I can't be bothered to change from undecided as long as the same people are doing the recruitment the replacement won't be any better.
