If Lambert doesn't get the bullet at the end of the season, I genuinely don't know what he'd need to do to get sacked. Since when did the stated remit for the club become merely 'survival'?

When the board decided that being a new version of Wigan was acceptable. Balancing the books is now all that matters, the playing squad, style of play, attendances & everything else is just a side show. They want the premier league TV money to balance the books and mere survival ticks the box they want. Ambition does not even now enter their thinking.

He is the perfect manager for them thus far, sold off most of the higher earners and replaced with players on low wages who we could probably sell without losing money on most of them.

Is this acceptable for a club like Villa or the fans of this great club? No chance.

Does the owner care enough any more to be bothered about the above? No does not feel that way. We are his club and he does what he wants.

Why oh why, do we never land on our feet and get lucky with managers, the 3 year cycle is about to begin again.

He has to go - surely no one can defend him now.

A caretaker manager until the season ends is probably the best option.

What makes anyone think Lambert will get fired now or at the end of the season?

The club is owned by an absentee & run by someone with absolutely no football experience.

We will stay up and he will be manager next season.

And there will probably just about be three teams worse than us again. Only just mind you as per this and last season.

And I won't be there to watch it. It probably means fuck all to them because I'm just one person but it means a lot to me. I miss the feeling I used to get walking away from villa park on a Saturday evening, I even googled tamworth season tickets earlier as they are probably low enough for it not to feel like cheating

I am sad to say that the only ray of hope of getting rid of our clueless manager is the attendances .Only 33,000 there today and three thousand of them were i believe Fulham fans. When our equally clueless owner sees dwindling crowds,he just might act.

If he finishes with the same points as McLeish or less i expect him to be sacked.

I'd hope there was some sort of performance related break clause in the contract.

We're not going down because fortunately there will be three sides worse. If the rest of the season follows the most recent trend of results I am certain that he'll be fired. It's the same as McLeish. He got fired because the business was going to suffer immeasurably the following season. His background had nothing to do with it. It was all about results. Going into the final year of his contract the board really can't leave him hanging not knowing about the future. If we finished strong, solid mid table he'd have earned an extra deal. As it is his position at the club will be untennable because his presence hurts the commercial side of the club, and will have a negative effect on season tickets. If this continues he won't be retained going into his final year.
