Bradford seemed worse because it was semi final, not the first round of the competition
We were robbed of a wembley final,

But we must have played well to get there in the first place before we blew it

And mine. But I still think Doncaster was worse.

That was a one off game which was bad enough, but the Bradford tie was something else. We had to be an abomination over not one but two games which we duly obliged. That's why it's worse for me.

The worst thing about Bradford was that even after they scored in the second leg, all we had to do was keep our heads and keep doing what we did in the first half.

We didn't though. Instead, Lambert totally lost it and stuck five up front with no thought as to how we'd get the ball to them.

That was way worse than the shit performance in the first leg.

He totally lost the plot and threw it away

He messed up that night alright, but these things happen. Bradford deserved it, we didn't. I've said I support Lambert a few times, and little has changed. I hope he improves this aspect of his management though, as he did it again the other day (possibly against Stoke? I can't remember). Good managers learn from their errors. He's at the early stages of his managerial career and I don't expect everything to be perfect straight away. I think he will improve it.

Bradford was a long time ago now.

He's hardly learned a lesson though considering we were again knocked out of a Cup competition this season.

Considering some of the sides around the country, not really shocking that we will be knocked out of a cup competition every season. Or are we meant to win all the cup games?

Anyhow, I am well past caring about this contract for Lambert bit. I just hope we improve a bit next season. Long term we are not going to start spending huge money, so may as well give him another season to see if it gets better.

I'll never forget the way we played the last 30+ minutes of the Villa Park leg when he threw everything at Bradford like there were just a minute or two remaining. It was incredibly amateurish and embarrassing. Lambert's tactics were playground stuff and he doesn't seem to have got much better since.

We won the last half hour 1-0 with the mentalist tactics. Maybe he's a genius after all.........

Bradford is just one of an increasingly long list of Lambert embarrassments. I don't know how many more he will get away with before people start realising that he is just a chancer.

The first half of the second leg was the most one sided game I have ever seen. Until Bayern play Yanited obviously.

Ron Saunders managed it three seasons in a row. Does that count?

No, because he won us a few trophies, turned us into the best team in the land and made us proud to be Villa fans in his time at the club. Lambert's done nothing but humiliate us in the 2 dreadful, painful, soul destroying seasons he's been here.

You have quite away with words. Have you ever thought of taking it up professionally?

Yes, perhaps then I could be like you and write a weekly blog where I talk about the ongoing woes at Villa Park without ever daring to criticise anyone in charge of the club.

I was thinking more along the lines of Victorian melodrama.

Weren't various years under the  Ellis regime described in similar terms? All the protests? I think people are being very restrained now considering this has all been as bad as those years.

Apathy, indifference and resignation are the main feeling I get off fellow Villa fans I know... not many are optimistic or enthusiastic about the future of this team/manager.

Gosh, I wish I had your optimism! You don't expect everything to be perfect straight away? What things are perfect already then Tom? And he's been a manager for, what, about six years now? Is that still early stages? Perhaps it is, I don't know. I seem to about a million miles away from your take on the situation...

Not much of a genius as we lost the tie.
