He's a boring, charmless, gollum lookalike git and I'm pleased he's struggling at Disney FC. Fuck him and fuck them.

This made me smile a lot, I actually like Moyes and think he is a better manager than the other gorbals twat.

As for Martinez he has done very well but without the loan players barry and lukaku everton would not be in the top 6 .

I don't see what the point of comments like this are.

Lukaku banged in the goals for Albion last season and they finished top 8 , without him they have struggled badly , lets see how everton do next season without lukaku and without much money to spend on a quality striker .

or maybe they'll go out and borrow another decent striker?

I don't see the problem, really. Those are the rules, and they have used them well.

It's likely that Lukako will be back at Chelsea next season being given a go. You say go out and borrow another striker, but there aren't many on the loan list at his level. Of course there is a chance they will find another striker. But, none are likely to have had already as good a season like Lukako did at the Albion. So, if Everton don't find a good replacement on that level they're going to have to buy. The level they need will be a gamble and it will interesting (in a not really that arsed type way) to see what their team will be like if they don't strengthen up front significantly.

I'd be pretty astonished if Chelsea don't go out and spend upwards of £30m on a new striker in the summer and I expect Lukaku to be pretty annoyed by it.

I'm pretty sure they will to. But whereas Man City have got Aguero, Negredo, and Dzeko  Chelsea have Torres, and past his best Eto'o, and Ba. Replacing at least two them with Lukako and the 30m+ striker is absolutely essential for them.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I appreciate really good strikers like Lukaku aren't available very often, but the original point was about Martinez having done well being lessened by the fact he borrowed a couple of really good players.

I don't think that detracts from what he's done at all. In fact, he's used the loan system very cleverly.

I don't like the loan system at all because it gets massively abused by the likes of Chelsea, who have 25 players (something like that) out on loan at the moment. Fair play to Martinez, though, he's done as much as he can to get the best out of it by borrowing players who have made a real difference.

It'll be harder next season, that's true.

Although to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they flogged Lukaku, anyway.

He's good at making something from not very much, but sadly he also makes not very much from something.

I know it's blasphemous, but you could argue the same for SGT to a degree.

And me. The sacking talk was nonsense and if anything, simply increases the chances he will walk away when the big job offer comes his way - I could not really blame him either though naturally I hope he stays because he could, just could, become a true Villa legendary manager IMO

Voted consistently to keep him.  We have a manager that really wants us to give it a go against the big teams, which means a lot.  We have a manager that is getting results against the big teams which means even more (The so called top four have all dropped points to Villa).  Thats not all down to luck, it means that on a fraction of the budget, he has assembled a team that can compete.  If he can start getting more consistent results against mid tables and lower team chaff, thats what will make us fly up the table.  We have had some dross, but we are slowly improving.  Sacking him would have been incredibly stupid, look at the teams around that have switched, and how much better they have performed.  Palace is about the only success story.  And who would we have brought in?  Ole?

Martinez has used the loan system brilliantly, I don't agree with it in its current form but he's taken full advantage of it.

There was an interview with Martinez earlier in the season and he said that Everton have already received lots of loan offers for next season from top sides based on how well they've handled Lukaku and the Barca kid.  Proof is in the pudding, as they say, but clearly he plans to continue to exploit the rule to his advantage.

I think they say that the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
