These rumors are only going to grow larger.
Pulling the trigger now would almost certainly send us down. Time to just hang on and then hope things change before next season.
Worrying to say the least.

Lambert's methods are pretty irrelevant at this point. Whatever he is doing behind the scenes isn't working on the pitch. If we were sat 6th in the league and we heard he was 'hands off' no-one would care.

Not strictly true as people got pretty fed up with M'ON being 'hands off' even when we were 6th.

That was a different era altogether though. If Lambert had got us to 6th this season he'd be hailed as a genius, irrespective of his methods.

I'm overseas right now. Wasn't having a good day yesterday. Couldn't get the kids to sleep, Aus had just knocked WI out of U19 World Cup.

Anyway, finally got set for the evening. Real deal on TV - SA v Aus Test Match, King of sports, scrambling around to find commentary from Newcastle on TalkShite International.

It's the standard format. Commentator and c list former pro. Was listening intently because I could not work out who the former pro was. Stantand, bland, mockney accent. Turns out it was somebody called Watson, former Reading and Spurs I think. Also turns out it was not the Villa game it was Pool v Swans. Commentator asks Watson for view on our game.

"Yeah, I'm hearing some really bad things out of the Villa dressing room. All is not well. They hardly see Lambert. He wanders into the dressing room before kick off team sheet in hand. He reads out who's starting and who's sub. Turns around and walks out. They have no idea of the formation, often they can't hear who's in and who's sub. It's then a mad scramble with Culverhouse to confirm what the team is and what the formation is".

Holy shit.

Well, if that's true, it explains a lot of the performances.

It doesn't however explain why he is the manager of Aston Villa Football Club.
Welcome Phil. K&D Lions far flung member, if I am not mistaken. Interesting post.

The problem is that those methods are rubbish and everyone knows it.

There are two narratives as to why the club is failing at the moment: either Lambert is a good manager working in straitened circumstances on the say-so of the board, and these rubbish players are holding us back; or Lambert has perfectly good players, but we're failing because he's rubbish at managing them. Now, we mostly fall somewhere between these two poles and many of us in fact believe both to be the case. I lean towards the latter because we've seen how good these players can be but that further exposure to Lambert's management appears to be making them worse and worse.

IF that is true sounds VERY MON like which doesn't surprise me in slightest.
Sounds utter bollix like to me.

I am inclined to go agree with Mr. Olaftab and,  being a paranoid android, suspect Shenanigans.

Anyway, here is Kevin Watson's twitter account, should any dedicated tweeters like to ask for further and better particulars:

Dunno. There is always a bit of a commotion when our subs come on. Players running around telling who has to go where. It never looks like any pre-planning has taken place, not that it can for every scenario, but I have become very aware of it this season.

Of those available who would take it yes he would be my top choice - there are better managers of course but I don't think they would be interested in the job - I would hope that randy already has thought about who he should be looking for in the event of lamberts departure but as past experience shows  he seems to often  takes weeks to appoint someone.
Last time we lost a few games in a row you were sure that Bielsa was the most sensible option.

What's he done wrong and what's Koeman done right since?
Oh yes Koeman who is apparently being "released" by Feyenoord. He has a very consistent record of failure at every club he has managed since some success at Ajax in early 2000's. However having managed 7 clubs around Europe you could say he has experience!

Im not sure what to think of that rumour.  On the one hand, just because some bloke on renowned bullshit broadcasters talksport said it doesn't make it true.

On the other hand, it would explain why nobody seems to know what they are doing.  Also, according to people who know these things, when he was at Norwich Lambert would pick the teams and system, and do the motivational stuff, while Culverhouse and co would handle the coaching and tactical side of things.  Plus this guy learnt the ropes under ONeill, and thats a very MON way of doing things.

Like you I am totally mystfied by his subs. At best it appears an exercise in being seen to be doing something and at worst clueless however I  can not believe he operates in the manner described. That would be total neglect of duty.

It might be bollocks, but it does tie in with the fact he doesn't appear to have much tactical awareness. As evidenced by how all he does is wave his arms about on the touch line and his solution when we go behind is frequently just to chuck forwards on without a thought about their supply.

The failure to bring on Albrighton yesterday is enough to convince me that Lambert is totally useless. We needed to go for the kill.

As ridiculous as that rumour sounds it's probably about one of the only things that can explain why we look so abject and like a bunch of strangers being managed by a stranger week in week out.
