El-Ahmadi isn't very good but it is mainly down to stamina as to why he so drastically fades during games. Quite often this season he has had a decent opening 20 minutes or so but is then anonymous throughout the rest of the match. He can get away with in Holland where the ferocity of the league is nowhere near that of ours but ultimately, he just doesn't have the natural fitness levels to cope with the pace of this league, especially whilst attempting a pretty intense pressing game.

KEA sums it all up for me.   Not just an inadequate player miles below premiership standard but the fact that Lambert sees something in him.

If somebody comes up to you in the street and says he has got a gold watch in his pocket you say show me the watch.   If he won't show you the watch you don't buy it.   Simple.   KEA shows us nothing.  Game after game, week after week, nothing.   But our manager picks him week after week, defeat after defeat but he continues to show nothing.   He can't tackle, he is no good in the air, he is not physically dominant, he cannot play a clever pass, he is slow, he has no rapport with the fans - nothing.   But if Lambert can see something you have to ask the question is Lambert imagining things or simply blindly stubborn and blindly loyal to a player he brought to the club.   KEA is the litmus paper test to the question does Lambert actually know what he is doing?

Couldn't agree more. KEA for me is amongst the 3  the most anonymous Villa midfield players  i've ever  seen,  the other two being David Hunt and Mark Kinsella. Sadly KEA has already played more games than those 2 put together, despite the fact that not one single performance has warrented  further selection. Today's latest dismal effort should really be his last, but somehow I doubt it will be.

Hmmm.  Don't rate KEA either - purely a squad player at best.  However, was awesome against Lpool and first half today.  What is the point in singling him out today?

The problem is much bigger - owner/manager/squad.
I think it is because you can see what most players are about even if they are not that good at it, I think with KEA we cant work out what he is actually doing, he has not been awesome ever, barely average is the height of his powers.

Fair enough - I massively exaggerated with "awesome".  Just don't see what the point is looking at an individual after he was fairly decent today.  The problems run much deeper.
Agree the problems are much deeper, there were some awful performances out there today.

The club needs to shelve this new contract talk until the summer and tell Lambert in the meantime to pull his finger out and actually work to earn one by getting us to 40 points as soon as possible. I'd sack him if he can't even reach 40 points as that would mean less points than last season and this season was supposed to be about progression.

As for then new contract, 3 more years is too long and would just mean more compensation, I'd give him a max 2 year new deal with the promise of an extra year if he can actually win 10 home league games in a season so again actually making him seriously work to improve us.

Big game for him next week against his old mates. I really think we will here some anti Lambert stuff if we don't win next week, not quite on the vitriol of what McLeish had after Bolton but let's be honest Lambert has had a very easy ride given some of the dismal home results in his tenure.

Also agree that he was pretty decent today. But I agree that with his lack of physicality he needs to do more with the ball at his feet.

I would not risk him being in charge against Norwich, but if we lose that they have to seriously consider firing him straight after.

I am on my phone and cant seem to quote but well said Ian B. I think it will take fans to sort this club out as I don't have any faith in anybody at the club having the ability to sort this mess out.
