I still think Lambert can do a good job for us.  he just needs to sign premiership quality players on premiership wages.

Admire that optimism, personally I think a manager who has failed to buy a Premiership quality midfielder in four transfer windows & wasted 7m on a striker we didn't need when anyone can see we need a creative player is a charlatan.

Hope you are right because he is the apple of Randy's eye
I hope so too, Randy need to give him 100 million plus a decent wage limit if we are to even get back to the top 7 or 8.

Even if Randy gives him the money, how will that address Lambert's clear tactical shortcomings?

Indeed. It's the elephant in the room. We've got one of the best centre forwards in the league in Benteke and we haven't a clue how to give him the right service. When Houllier signed Bent he knew exactly how to play for him. McCleish didn't have a clue and neither did Lambert. 24m down the drain.

What's so frustrating is we have seen with our own eyes some of the talented young players go backwards in their development after showing very promising signs. Nothing to date has been done to address the issue. I could go on but to save time I'll just say this, Lambert is the wrong manager to execute the plan Lerner and Faulkner have for the club.

Its leopards and spots for me I'm afraid TV but then I am old and tired.   I truly hope you are right but I fear you are not.

in your many years of dedicated supported Brian the one thing that you can rely on is that nothing ever stays the same.

I read somewhere that in our 15 home games so far this season we have scored the first goal once. That's a damning stat and tells you everything about the tactics of Paul Lambert. And we're offering this man a new 3 year deal!

Good god ..  that's frightening

was that Cardiff   and to think that only changed when Bacuna moved position and won the free kick , I think.

I'm assuming SH is including cup matches. So it's three. Cardiff, Swansea and Rotherham.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned over the next few pages I haven't read yet.

Plus ca change and all that TV but there is one thing that never ever can change is how I feel about the club.   Me and 35,999 others at the game yesterday for starters.

Regarding wages of £7m players. The wages of Kozak and Benteke weren't exactly a problem or excessive. It can be done. Whether it is by us is a different matter.

yesterday was a bad day. Like numerous bad days we have  had in our long history. You'll recall the '86-87 season and how bleak everything looked and felt. It didn't last and again, just my belief that this won't last either. Something has to give as I don't believe the aims of the club are to remain in this position for eternity even if it feels like that now.

Why would you give Lambert money to spend?

He has proved that he has no idea how to deploy the players he has got and that he will play his shit purchases ahead of better players already in the squad.

The players he has at his disposal should be able to produce better performances than the garbage that is being served up by his team.

I hope that he is not given a new contract and that he is sacked as soon as this season is over.

Absolutely. It would be great if Randy was ready to invest but it should not be with Lambert, that would be a total waste of money and just reinforce Lerner's growing disillusionment.

Which shit players does he pick ahead of better players already here? Apart from KEA (and who is here that is better?) i'm struggling to come up with any.

I'd imagine that when they were renegotiating with Benteke, they'd have had in mind that when they sell him, they'll cash in big style.

As for Kozak, I am not sure there's that much money in Italian football these days. Certainly not for third choice strikers. Either way, the problem is a lack of quality pretty much from back to front.

Guzan, Vlaar, Delph, Gabby (sometimes) and Benteke.

The rest of the squad looks pretty uninspiring, to say the least. It's not a matter of one of two better players getting more money, it's a problem that we've got way too many players who don't look good enough, and that's mostly because they've come from the lower leagues.

In the case of KEA, isn't the answer the creative midfielder we failed to buy both last summer and last month?

But who is better that was already at the club that KEA is keeping out the starting 11 which was the point CL made.

How would they know he would become a £30m player? He was a £7.5m player signed for £20K a week. Which is what I meant, £7m players can be signed without stumping up massive wages.

The trouble is though Fergal, he ain't a premiership quality manager.

The question must be do you think the better performances last spring, and the high tempo performances this year where we've actually looked like a professional football team rather than a Sunday pub team, are Lambert getting it right, or just good luck.

If it's the first then why the f%&k can't we play like that more often.

Either way he's looking like a busted flush at the moment. Too many false dawns with too many disappointments straight after.
