For boring reasons I had no idea of the score at half time. Someone told me it was 3-3, and not having any media access until the second half I didn't believe them.

Well what a game, we craved entertainment at VP and got it in spades.  The atmosphere was very good too, noise in the upper Holte deafening at times, and on the way out.
I thought Westwood was OK too, KEA not great and Sylla poor when he came on, can't hold on to the ball.  Weimann's best game for ages, Bertrand superb too.  Lowton is a worry, he was awful defensively and his touch was poor on several occasions when he got forward, lost the ball then didn't track back  At least Bacuna dis chase back if he got caught upfield.  That said he had no protection as KEA was very narrow and quite often had two on him.
Great night though.

I think mentally we have the edge on the Albion and more than likely, always will. You cannot live in our shadow all those years and have the huge inferiority complex they do and not let it effect you.

Agree we have had v them most of my life even when they were good, and recently when they could have nailed us over the previous couple of seasons. They want to equals and aren't.

This is what annoys about The Noses where they are able to drag us down to their level and in head to head matches share the spoils.

Lowton is pretty much our entire team in microcosm - there's something there, but you're just never totally convinced.  He should have kicked on this season, but hasn't.  I wouldn't be showing him the door yet and rather work on him defensively on the training ground as he crosses such an excellent ball.

As to the game, it was great fun, but didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.  This Villa team has goals in it, but has trouble defending and give daft goals away.

When I woke up this morning the first thing I thought about was the crossbar twanging like a guitar string and the ball in the back of the net

Everything about that goal was utterly sexual.

72 mph baby

It made Brunt's effort look like a lob. It's been said elsewhere but I love it when the ball crashes in off the bar like that

I couldn't follow the game on TV/stream  last night as I am a lazy teacher who only works three hours in the mornings. However, I did have my "futbol24" phone app which kept on buzzing and bonging as the Baggies were boinging and their crossbar was twanging. I watched the goals at the start of first lesson today and it was very satisfying. Did that ****** Anelka get a good booing before he went off?

I was trying to explain to my oldest son what a 'quenelle' is and he didn't believe me. The political detail was kind of lost

Bacuna did well in the number 10 role.

I didnt think so, he looked a little lost and failed to find space between the lines of midfield and up front. I think his best position is right side of midfield.

Agree with that.

If we're to play a diamond, I'd liek us to try Bacuna right, Delph left, Westwood at the base and Weiamnn at the tip.  Gabby and Benteke upfront.

If no one came in, I would play Weimann up with Benteke and Gabby floating in the number 10 role. I know that might sound odd, but he is improving all the time as a footballer, passes well and can carry the ball at pace from a deep position, and would be more effective there than Weimann.

If we went the way I originally suggested, I'd see it as Gabby havign freedom to pull wide of Benteke and create some width.  Being right behind the main striker, that would sort of overlap with areas Weiamnn might operate in.  So, if we ever picked that team, I think we'd see a fluid interchanging of positions between Gabby and Weimann.  I mainly suggested it the way I did as Gabby is more effective wide than Andi is.

Congratulations on your victory - there's no complaints from me.

Absolutely fuming that we've bottled it, yet again, but fair play to Villa for a come back which caught our players seemingly by surprise.

Lambert will do you good, given time and funding.

If we persist with Lugano and Steven Reid then I have doubts about whether we will.

Never been so gutted leaving a ground. Still, such is football and days like this happen.

Said to my 10 year old lad on the way out - ' Son, For every Sheff Utd game, there's a losing 2-0 to that lot and coming back and winning 4-3. It's why we come down - it's the Villa - it's why we love 'em ''

Also, I can't seem to get the sound of the 'Laughing Policeman' out of my head - it's a good day.
