I was surprised to see Lambert's quotes make News At Ten. I think people are going over the top. Has their been any fuss made over Nigel Clough agreeing with him? 3-0 to Villa today.

It's funny but we get regular calls for fringe players to be given a chance yet when the manager makes comments that 'could' be interpreted as him considering that option we see an outcry from some sections of the support.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

This is it. There's been people on here wanting us to recall Grealish and Carruthers and the moment it's suggested for a cup game, all hell breaks loose.

But this is the FA Cup and we want to win the damn thing.

And you think that playing Sylla and Gardner instead of Westwood and Delph against Sheffield Utd is going to be the difference between us winning the FA Cup and not?

We've still got a group of players who should deal with League One relegation candidates however much they raise their game. I don't really care who starts because I expect them too have enough. Just.

Lower league clubs can lift their game as  our side found against bradford .

Clearly. And as Ipswich, Rotherham QPR - or was it Leicester- found, even top sides playing poorly in the top flight usually get through.

No but it may get us into the latter rounds, then who knows? Bloody Wigan won it last year!

Teams tend to put out a stronger team the further they progress - if we got to the latter stages I'm sure we would play our strongest team.

So Sylla and Gardner (both of whom people have been making a case for being in our first team anyway) won't be good enough to get past Sheffield Utd, but Delph and Westwood will?

If I had a choice none of them other than Delph would be in the Villa squad, but I'd rather Westwood over Sylla. As for Gardner, I've heard lots about him being a good young player but I've yet to see anything to back it up.

So maybe a game, against say a League One side might be a good time for him to start showing you something?
