As for Gardner, I've heard lots about him being a good young player but I've yet to see anything to back it up.
So maybe a game, against say a League One side might be a good time for him to start showing you something?

I think I'd rather him used as a sub in the league. One bad performance in the Cup and we're out.
Obviously if he scores the winner today I shall ruthlessly hunt down this post and delete it.

So let me get this right.

It's not okay to bring in young players like Gardner for a FA Cup tie against a team from a lower league but we need to start bringing in young players like Gardner for League matches against teams at our level even though (apparently according to many) we are in a relegation battle.

Got it, carry on.

What for applying logic and not trying to make out playing kids against a league 1 side might be a better plan than against a prem side?

I hope he plays a mix of kids and stiffs and they win 4-0 and he shoves some of the shit that has been hyped up about it all down peoples throats.

I also hope we win 4-0. We're taking a chance playing kids though. This is the FA Cup and one mistake and we're out for yet another season. I'd rather we play our 1st team and give us a better chance.
What's so wrong with this view?

Strongest team possible today, please. They certainly need the practice. Fringe players can be give time in the second half and learn how to fit in with Lambert's 'system' rather than wholesale changes that achieve nothing apart from game time.

Fans at Villa Park bloody deserve to be entertained too.

Anyway the misses has packed my Villa shirt in one of our 9 (nine) suitcases so I have to go into the game without me wearing my Villa shirt. Defeat, or a draw at best, beckons. Sorry-o.
