Lost 5-0 at home in front of less than 4,500. Felt like I had the Holte to myself it was so empty. I was on the dole and living in Bromsgrove at the time. Spent over a weeks dole money getting to the game. Which including a two hour walk to Bromsgrove train station from my house, and a two hour walk back at stupid o'clock. For anyone who knows Bromsgrove, think where the train station is, and then where the Park Gate pub is/was (I assume it is still there) on the Kiddy Road as I lived near there. I spent most of the walk home swearing i'd never go again. I hated Villa that night!

We were in an uncovered corner of a half empty ground Although the old barrel-roofed main stand was fantasticAnd there were about 300 of us there, absolutely maximum. Valentine's day 1988

I've still got the programme for that Boro game, I think Alan Kerngahan is on the front. Stuart Gray scored for us to take it into extra time then we let in two. It was a long journey home.

Valentine's day 1988I think that was the first away game we went to after switching from the travellers club to premier entertainments. I went to Ayresome Park the following season too after we both got promoted. One or possibly even both of those games was a 3-3 draw.
