Clark is a liability. He is not a Premiership player. Neither is Baker but he is marginally better. Clark's actions practically gives the opposition a goal start. We need to put Sylla in midfield to offer some protection.

He was doing ok against Chelsea as well from what I recall. I think Baker and Clark are both good enough to be in premiership squads, but neither is ready to start regularly right now.The Okore situation is all a bit 'unknown' right now, until there is something official I'm not worrying about replacing him.

There's a story emanating from Denmark that he's done his cruciate. All the cub are saying is that he's being scanned.

Otherwise you're judging this squad on the performances of previous squads, which is pretty unfair.Last season was littered with performances like the Newcastle one. You must have your head firmly buried in the ground if you can't see that. This was a wind up right? Or did you completely ignore the bit I've put in bold? The next post after yours summed it up.Quote from: Concrete John on September 16, 2013, 11:48:24 AMWe seemed to ahve turned a corner with recent performances, even if results weren't matching them, but this was a relapse to what we saw for large prtions of last season. Whether it's just a blip or not we'll find out at Norwich. So, I stand by my assertion that a lot of the negative comments on here are effectively coming after 1 poor performance. If we're this poor again in the next couple of games then we might be seeing a repeat of the last few years but 4 good performances and 1 bad (in my opinion at least) is the evidence we have to judge this squad on, and I don't think many of the comments in this thread are using that sample but instead are, as mentioned, judging things on the basis of last year.

Does sound like a few of our players are having exactly what I feared - second season syndrome, at least at the outset. Hopefully they'll recover their form soon. I'm just not sure from what I've seen that Tonev (for Weimann) Bacuna (for Lowton or Westwood) are really ready to go into the side.
On reflection and having watched the highlights of the Everton Chelsea game I can't help but think Barry in either defence or midfield would have seen a different outcome in Saturday's result. No, he's not the future, I know, but he's steadying influence would be most welcome now.
Lots of stick for baker and Clark when Vlaar is a major part of the problem. For a big bloke the amount of times he's beaten in the air and rolled off the ball is nowhere near PL standard.
