Both of the fullbacks even if they were poor, particularly Lowton, they were left completely isolated all the time. When Okore was playing his pace covered it a bit, but after that we were stuffed.

Common theme sadly, too often teams come at our exposed defence and there is no cover for them - defence is a key part of the game - for all his attacking instincts lambert didnt exactly get us scoring freely last season and the fact we have gone 26 league games without a clean sheet says a lot .

We do not defend well enough and the defence are too often left exposed , we do not score often enough as there is little width to get balls in for the strikers from the wing and our midfield lacks creativity and provides little in the way of chances or know how when it comes to breaking teams down - crying out for creativity.

Today has been a very bad day indeed and things need to improve - we need to get a result at Norwich and there need to be changes made to the starting line up at Norwich.

-Lamberts tactical nous, or thorough lack of. This 4-2-4 madness has to end. This lack of width has to end. Strange substitution choices.

4-2-4 could be explainable if 2 of the 4 were wide....why were all 4 straight through the middle....? Again?

I said before today that this game would be the marker for our season... how right I was.

I am totally pissed off by that result.
But, it's only the fourth game and we have won one. It will get better.
That is what I'm hanging on to.

Very disheartening display.

First half we looked like 11 players who'd never played together before. Poor passing, no
Movement, creativity, urgency or ideas.

Thought we could only improve in the second half, and we did, for the first 20 mins. Then what happened next was truly embarrassing, a repeat of the bradford debacle with a CM going off and a 4th striker coming on.

Cue 4-2-4 with no width, no one knowing where they were playing
Or what to do. Looked very
Much like Lambert shoehorning a CF into the side that we barely need. Hope he finds a solution because 7m is a big signing for us at the moment.

After watching fatpants perform well todayfor everton i really think we could have done with that sort of experience sat in front of the back 4. Lamberts way it is though, hope he can sort it quick.

I think Gareth barry debut was a marker it highlights what we miss in villa midfield .... I don't think kea and Westwood should be together as there needs to be more than delph as a  progressive player . Westwood annonys me in that he is very cautious and plays 2 yard passes patrols the centre circle and dosent offer any attacking nous ... Kea is worse than Ikea . If Gareth Barry was in team we woukd have won

Villa Park os too easy to play at.

Also, why dont the club do something to stop cuntish fuck bubbles getting on our pitch week in week out?

In former times, we sorted this type of transgression out ourselves. Now we sit on our arseholes and grow a tumour. That is progress for you.

Thing is KEA looked out of his depth last season and through being dropped and then injury Lambert looked at other options and we improved a lot in the midfield.

I've no idea how he's found his way back in to be honest and if Lambert wanted a play maker then he needed to sign one, relying on someone whose already let you down already without looking for other options is the sort of thing MON would have done.

I'll be at the Citeh game for the first Villa match in 10 years, was hoping a win today would mean we could go in with confidence and give it a real go.  Unless we get something at Norwich to lift the team I fear it'll be a hammering.

We kind of need to now. If we play 5 and lose 4 we'll be looking at real trouble to start the season with.

I will state it for the second time tonight. If you sign three 6 foot + strikers. Give them ammo. Wingers and crosses from natural width. Lowton and Luna are not the answers.

It happens a lot. If they sign them they shoehorn them in. Pride before judgement.
