Oh for fucks sake. Why are we so shit at home?

Because we adopt the completely wrong tactics, and there are too many players guaranteed a place.

I wouldn't be surprised if we win less than 3 games at home all season. Utterly clueless on the ball and still possess the worst defense in the league
Steady on fella there are 5/6 teams worse than us.

Oh fuck, we're not banking on that already are we.
No we are not and there is no need for that after 4. It's a comment on "worst defence in the league".

On the way back from the game we agreed that the last full back Villa could trust to defend and attack properly was Luke Young, even when he had to fill in at left back.

Ben Arfa has days like this. Not many but he looks very good when he is on his game. James Collins or Hutton would have stopped him running the game but we havent got defenders of that ilk any more.

The first half was best forgotten. Delph played well in the second half but most of the others looked very ordinary. Some looked less than that.

We had chances to win it , Gabby/Weimann/Luna but we got what we deserved......nothing!

Benteke - apart from goal - nothing - again.

4 goals in 4 games, i'll take that kind of lack of contribution all year long.
And that's before taking into account how many headers he wins, the defenders he occupies and so on. It's not his fault so many of the other players aren't firing yet.

I've not read any of the rest of the thread yet so will be interested to see if others feel the same, but the way I see it is this.

Shocking lack of width.

Two blokes in Westwood and KEA doing EXACTLY the same job - not necessary esp at home.

Only Delph who can carry the ball and beat a man. And he nearly always receives the ball in his own half. - Pointless.

Lambert is either naive, stupid or both when it comes to tactical substitutions.

Luna is barely an upgrade on Bennett based on that performance.

We lack real know how, a consequence of either immature players or those that are not good enough - you decide which.

Yet again, movement non existant. It's surprising how easy it is to hide on a football pitch if you want to.

I really am struggling to find a positive. We were that bad. Even our goal was a toss of a coin effort.

Why oh why are the catering staff / management still unable to cope with standard numbers of customers at half time. Here's a clue geniuses, spend a day at the cricket or rugby to see how its done. Have the beers poured ready. Have a counter just for bottles. If you are expecting a crowd of 35000+ there is no excuse for the barrels to run out. Arrrgghh!!!

I need a drink now to calm down.

Agreed. Benteke does very good things, but there are two problems at the moment: 1) he's better than just as an object to hit with long balls; 2), even when he manages to win the ball and win it well, there's no Eriksen, no Ben Arfa, fuck it no Hoolahan there to give it to to calm things down or move things forward.

Yes its painful. We are not good enough yet to play in a different style at home. This will come given time. Our style will yield us points to make us comfortable mid table.

What a football club we are btw, we must be the only one who'd go to Arsenal and win 3-1 and then lose our next three league games even if two of those looked pretty difficult.

The amount of long punts he won but too often the rest weren't supporting him so we lost possession.

Well, that's exactly what we're meant to be getting away from. It was Lambert who stressed we need competition for places and now he needs to start dropping players.

What Lambert needs to do is drop Lowton and Weimann.

1) Neither are justifying starting
2) Send out a sign that if you don't perform you are out. It concerns me a bit that too many of our starting 11 seems pretty nailed on to start regardless of form.

Based on both league home games Luna and KEA should be worried as well.
