That last Villa caller was an absolute thing of beauty.  Franks literally couldn’t think of anything to say except ‘you’re talking complete twaddle’.  I feckin loved it.
Definitely. I even shouted at the radio "go on mate you fucking tell him" I was driving at the time. I must've looked like a right mentalist.

Yeah, that fan didn't hold back much did he ? Even mentioned the fact that there was sadly no alternative footy phone in these days.
Thought he might've got cut off a one point.

The ‘career ending tackle by Hutton on Shane Long’ - that kept him out for 3 weeks!

Yet it’s us that are whinging on & on and can’t let stuff go!

Eddie thinks the own goal was fair because our first goal was an own goal. So that’s how luck evens out. Rego saying he doesn’t see how it being an own goal is relevant, without anyone pointing out that own goals are very simply perfectly legal and therefore not usually affected in any way by incompetent officials.

We just need to get over it though, because obviously there would be no howling injustice whatsoever from the direction of the Sandwell bus stop were the roles reversed.

Rego always defends us, easily the most pro Villa person in their motley crew. Mike Taylor is pretty good in fairness although rarely covers our games as he's their Wolves commentator.

I've said this a million times before but I just can't understand how they can have a football phone in every night of the week, there simply isn't enough going on in this region to justify that.

With lack of news their hosts....o.k Franksy then come out with provactive and fishing comments to get callers in and really a BBC station should be better than that as those are tactics Talksport used to great effect.

Was it the same game when Hutton handballed on the line and the ref completely missed it? Still 6-7 years ago anyway.

But you're answering your own question there.

They've got air time to fill, they do it with football, do that and you have to generate enough interest to get people to call in, and one way to do that is to be controversial.

The reason they give Villa such a hard time is we are box office in this region, and that's going to get more people going than having a pop at Small Heath.

I have to say, I never listen to it, but I genuinely don't understand why so many people on here (in general, not yourself) get so wound up about it yet seemingly listen to it on a regular basis. It's like you're complaing about the thing you're knowingly getting suckered into.

The fact this is a 249* page thread says it all. What they do clearly works.

I occasionally put it on if I happen to come home from work at around that time (which isn’t that often) and will catch maybe half an hour of it.

Tonight thought - I have to admit I was totally drawn, like a moth to a flame to hear what they would say about what happened on Friday!

I am probably one of those you mention Paulie, as it is on during my drive home from work, so I do tend to listen to bits most evenings and then listen on the way to and from matches.  He often acts the clown and can be annoying at times, but Mark Regan's thoughts on the Villa are generally worth a listen and there are some decent callers on there.  Those callers are generally outweighed by a group of pillocks though who seem to be on there on a daily basis.

You have to conclude that it is deliberate as they do screen the calls when people phone in, so they could keep them off air, but they don't.  Said it before, but the majority of the blame lies with Franks for me as he sets the tone and it is different when he is not there.

As a Villa fan of 45 + years and a season ticket holder of 11 years but going to matches regularly for over 40 years I cannot contain my frustration any longer and I am glad of the opportunity to vent my anger on this site. I am not one to phone into a radio station to belittle myself anyway and to give WM the chance to belittle me even further by smugly showing their glee at  my frustration would anger me further. I am a 57 year old female who absolutely loves the Villa and takes any criticism of 'my club' to heart. I understand that we all feel the same about our teams but when I listen to WM who are supposed to be a pro Midlands radio station I despair. It is quite clear they are only interested in enjoying the fruits of Albion, Wolves and to some extent The Blues successes and even more so the Villa's failures. I have wanted to vent my spleen for so long now and I apologise for my boring rant but find it therapeutic to put it down in writing. I live with my husband and 3 grown ups sons, my husband and 2 younger sons are ardent Blues supporters, all season ticket holders and myself and oldest son are Villa through and through, even they admit WM are out of order in their vendetta against us. I was so ecstatic last night to hear the caller give Franksy a piece of his mind concerning this and I couldn't have put it better. All Franksy could do was cut him off with the remark 'a load of twaddle'.  How is it fair to have a Midlands football radio station quite clearly only set up to slag Villa off and to really only enjoy the 'other' teams successes to further demean us. It is a disgrace, the producers should be made aware of the individuals who constantly make fun of us on a nightly basis... and please don't get me started on Polly.

Listening is a choice and if it gets to you to that degree, you need to stop listening and hurt them by reducing their listening figures.

I no longer listen to the WM football phone in as I am sick of it but I inadvertently caught last night's call and wanted to support the recent view on the subject.

Like I said, it was just a way of supporting the views and to also vent my spleen. I thank you for welcoming me into the fold.
