I’d assumed it was pretty much common knowledge but it doesn’t really matter and there’s probably no point in debating it. It’s his business and the piece made a very valid point about homophobia in grass roots football.

If I remember rightly he said in the piece that he hadn’t told his team mates he was gay.

I presumed from Richard's post that he was just suggesting that his team mates' probably had an inkling anyway. Still, if what he has done makes it easier for others in the same position to do the same, then that's great.

Yes you're correct. I think there are still lots of walls to break down. Football and sports dressing rooms/environments in general might still be more openly intolerant but it's good to see it is changing. However we need to keep educating and maturing as a society to the point where homophobia, racial or religious biases and prejudices become a thing of the past.

He mentions his partner Dean on his show, so they'd have known if they listen to him on the radio.

That could’ve been Brenda Dean former General Secretary of SOGAT though.

I didn’t really mean anything by it other than that he has a relatively prominent public profile locally and I don’t think he’s ever made any particular secret of being gay. It was a good feature and he comes across as a top bloke.

No worries.

I’d say coming out to your team mates is even worse than coming out in most other environments. The fact that your getting changed and showering naked with them must must be a bit uncomfortable for some, especially Anderson himself. I’m sure they’ll get over it soon enough though.

Coming out as a footballer must be tough. Another gay actor or gay pop star and who cares? But a footballer has to play in front of opposition fans, many of whom would relish giving him some stick.

Who was that nut job Pete, from Ladywood, who was on WM tonight?
I’ve heard him before and struggle to understand who he supports. He contradicts himself week in, week out.
Someone said they heard Franksy say that they humour him as they know he is a bit of a clown.

I realised when Ken guested the other week that he was quite possibly our door security man at work. When I asked him, he confirmed it was him. I am not sure why it never clicked with me before now.

So now I have declared my Villa status to him, he is on a wind up every time I come in and out of the building - although to be fair, Ken being Ken, he doesn't reek of the usual bitterness so it's quite fun.

He told me they would be resting their 'Big Guns' for Huddersfield. 'You've got big guns?' I replied incredulous.

He was on last night laughing about the possibility of Gabby appearing - mirroring a conversation I had with him earlier in the week, he (they) have a genuine fear of his jinx over them.

Let’s put this to bed for any Blues fans who may read this. If Gabby plays tomorrow, we have more reason to be worried than you have!

Those were virtually my exact words to a Nose just before last season's Derby at our place.

I realise it was emotional for some today but that chump who rang up WM to describe Terry as "a leader and a legend" needs stringing up by his goolies!

I thought that but I will cut him some slack due to the pure joy of reinforcing our status clouding his judgement.
