It was better when it was once a week on a Friday night and then phone in after the games on Saturdays and midweeks.

I've never really understood why they changed it to a phone in ever single night of the week, there's only so much you can talk about surely particularly in international breaks where little happens unless there's a change of manager.

Because fans want to talk about football all the time, which is why this site is busy with posters every day of the week.

It's not quite the same though is it really.

In the case of Franks and his 'football family' less is definitely more.

Why isn't it, years ago we got games 3pm on a Saturday and the occasional midweek game, Match of the Day on Saturday night, and that was your lot. Then Sky came along and turned it on its head giving us live football practically every day on the week, 24hr rolling sports news channels on TVs and national radio etc, and without even mentioning the Internet side of things. It's daft to suggest local radio shouldn't play an extended part of it. The demand is clearly there, so why shouldn't they?
And to suggest there's only so much you can talk about in regards to football is a bit daft considering the amount of stuff posted on here on a daily basis.

You could say the demand is there if it wasn't the same 5 or 6 people ringing up 3 times a week. I get the point your making but a forum is different. Me and you wouldn't be having this conversation on the radio for a start and I think even if games were all at 3pm with the occasional mid-week game, this board would be still be as popular as it is.

But it's not all about the people ringing up it's the people listening at home. If no one was bothering to listen they wouldn't churn out phone ins every day.

That is such a brilliant way to describe that show!

They churn phone ins out all the time because it's a cheap way of filling time.

7 or 8 people calling in (on a premium number?) or pay for an extra talking head or 2.

Shudders.

One of the shift teams at A&W insisted on listening to it. I swear in the end, it was to keep me out of the control room because they knew Doolan's voice wound me up.

The most common phrase used on that programme was:

"Hang on Ed, I'll just go and get a pen and paper...."

Just wasted 30 minutes of my life listening to a load of drivel. Sad baggies fans rooting for Blose on Sunday. Franksy: Kodjia  will be playing Premier League football next season regardless of which League Villa are in. He suggested Tony Pulis might be interested in bidding £25M for him!

Ah, I get him, so after 6 or so games he's admitting he's wrong and Kodjia isn't a massively overpriced waste of money worth nearer to half his value, like he said a month ago?

Franks is a massive prick.

The same Albion fan has called in twice this week to say he's supporting Blues on Sunday. The obsession and the Albion-Blues love in continues. They should join forces and merge their clubs into one, We Hate Vile FC. They might just about scrape the same crowds as we get that way and be able to take more than 2000 to an away game that isn't at Villa Park.
