Then last night a Villa caller mentioned a Swedish takeover by a group based in Geneva.

Brilliantly, when he was corrected, he then proceeded to refer to the group as 'Swish'!

I honestly thought he was going to follow that up with the word roll at any second.

You do have to wonder about some of the callers on there sometimes.  A Wolves fan ended his call the other night by apologising to Franks for not being able to listen to the show for a while because he had been at work.

Franks was on his usual form.  He was asking caller to phone in with the favourite games they had been to.  One Villa fan phoned in and said the 2-0 Inter Milan win in 1990.  He'd only just finished the call when Franks piped up with something like "of course Villa lost the second leg 3-0 and went out".

I heard the bloke who apologised for not listening, as cringeworthy as you can get.

If the BBC have to make cuts, as was suggested yesterday, maybe their Mailbox based local radio station would be a good place to start.

You don't have to watch it Damon. Look in your grandmother's family album. (Or albun as less common Brummies would say).

Agreed, it's shit. I switched it off as soon as they mentioned the Sty.
It also spawned a generation of chav hard men wannabes in flat caps which is just unforgivable in my book.

Not only is it shite and mentioned the noses, but I was quite fond of wearing a flat cap and had managed to find a rather natty claret and blue tweed one. Can't wear it now.

I don't believe it. You suborn a perfectly good, slag off WM thread to whinge about Peaky Blinders. Come over on to the Peaky blinders thread and say that. The acting! The plot! The violence! The crime! The caps! What's not to like?

My father-in-law still wears his because he knows the real Billy Kimber was an Astonian like him.

It's laughable and predictable how the noses have taken the peaky blinders show as proof that they were the original noses. The writer is a blue nose and took the opportunity to weave small heath into the story line!! Utter bollocks. Most of their time was was spent touring the race tracks or frequenting the ale houses of Summer Lane, Aston. I have told this to my blue nose mate who ignores this and still insists on wearing a very silly peaky blinders cap with the small heath badge on Hilarious! !!

I haven't had the chance to watch any Peaky Blinders yet. I'm just wondering if there is any reference at all to Aston Villa?  On the one hand I think it's great that the BBC - for once - has commissioned something based on Birmingham culture...yet, on the other hand, the fact that it is written by a Small Heath fan leaves me wondering if the depiction of Birmingham life is wholly authentic when it comes to matters of football?

I don't recall any direct Villa references, but Benjamin Zephaniah plays a reoccurring character, and he's obviously one of us.

He's about the only one who can do the accent. The rest - with the exception of Cillian Murphy - are just indescribable.
