I liked all the pictures down on Witton Lane, a very clever idea, although the Tom Hanks one ruined it slightly.

I agree, they should replace it with a pissed up Geezer Butler telling a Texan copper "Go on then shoot me, I'll die for Aston Villa".

I remember this feeling, the churning annoyance that you've dropped points that you shouldn't have, and I don't like it.

A good start on reflection. I think we are one or two players light, especially an attacking midfielder, but we look decent again. Compare that with our opening week last season and we're seeing progress.

Arsenal,Chelsea away and then Liverpool who are a much improved side and to come out of those games with equal goal 'difference'  ,scored 4 and 4 against ,suggests a comfortable top half side.
Defensive frailties were the big concern before the season but we look solid enough,so the criticism is focusing now on midfield creativity.Bacuna didn't look the part in midfield and when KEA came on ,our passing and movement improved.Lowton's substitution was possibly to avoid a sending off,as there was ill feeling between him and Coutinho.
It was good to see that we had reduced a team that had earlier passed it around us at will into a side that was desperately hanging on at the end. This pressure will make lesser teams capitulate.
Okore and Luna look to be great signings.

I'm hoping the tactic of defending and counter attacking if we're not losing isn't going to apply to every game.

Yeah, I really like Tony Moon a lot. I think Bennett's going to have trouble getting back in.

Before the season started I'd have been happy with 3 points, we should have 5 points. So I won't get too carried away with yesterday's result any more than I did after the Arsenal game.

Our home results are why we have been locked into a relgation battle for the past 3 years, like yesterday, our home performances often do not give us the results we deserve.

Most teams will come to Villa Park & setup to stop us playing, the others (the top 6) will come to beat us. From an attacking position we need more options to either come off the bench or put pressure on those in the team.

This.  Nobody would have a problem if this was our points total now.  We've certainly been good enough.  Just shows how slim the margins are.

Guzan         7 did what he needed to do. Can't be blamed for the goal.
Lowton        3 Our worst player on the pitch. Gets pulled out of position easily and was not much good going forward.
Vlaar           5 don't like him and he didn't do anything today to make me change my mind. Got easily dummied for their goal.
Okore          7 has the making of a real class defender.
Luna           8 had  fantastic game and at times was our only option.
Westwood    5  Was effective but looked lost at times.
Delph          8 Fantastic MotM IMO.
Bacuna        6 good debut and could turn into a very good midfielder.
Agbonlahor  5 Liverpool had him worked out and missed an easy chance.
Benteke      6 amazingly ineffective however could have still scored twice.
Weimann    4 Very poor today and he really needs to find a role in this team.

I really cannot see how you can say Bacuna had a good debut ? He was the worst player on the pitch. Everyone around me were holding their breathe when he had the ball. For the wrong reasons !! He has been decent in previous games but today his nerves got the better of him ......

Still very optimistic, despite the last 2 results, being denied 2 crucial penalties doesnt help us but the performances were encouraging, but please dont give us "Kevin Enemy" for a ref again for the forseable future, - like the next 10 years ideally.

The morning after the performance wasn't too bad I suppose.
Slow start and formation change bolloxed the first half for us - second half we should have equalised.
Okore looks great but needs to develop tactical awareness for his pass out after winning the ball (we still look very static?)
Tony Mooooon looks like he adds something and has a bit of spirit.
Gabby picked us up I thought with the run late in the first half and took people on a couple of times when it was needed

On another day we would beat so bring on Noocasl
