I want him back  if there is any chance whatsoever.  Footballers are f--kstars so would put to one side his original departure.

He only manages the top 4 in the Lerner era Behind Barry, Petrov and Milner.

He's well liked but delph is a better player than Petrov. I think it shows a paucity of quality of midfielders that we have had that Petrov would be in our top 3 midfielders over the last 10 years or so.

I disagree, over the course of their time with us Petrov was much more influential.  Delph had 2-2 1/2 good seasons after 3-4 years of injuries and poor form.  By the end he was on a similar level to Petrov but the latter gave us the best part of 6 seasons and for most of that time was a key contributor to us being a top half team.

I think he was allowed to be because of the players that he was playing with. There were times when delph was seemingly single-handedly driving the midfield, and team, on. Before Petrov's illness, and this may have been an unforeseen symptom, but the comments were that we would have to replace petrov if we were trying to move on from where we were (6th after 6th really wasn't good enough). petrov was steady but no more.

As for Petrov's 6 years the first two had people wondering what he was giving us before he truly settled into his role, and yes he did well for another couple of seasons. However, If you loom at the 2010 team and wondered what we could have added, Delph in his final couple of seasons and Benteke, would have been an upgrade on Petrov and say Heskey.

If we're cheering Gabby's return, we may as well welcome Delph with open arms. Is Peter Sutcliffe match fit?

No, but Fred West could be in with a chance.

He's one of our own.

Nasty if not downright vindictive - and entirely understandable.

Well what a surprise, Ladbrokes are offering 4-1 on Delph joining Newcastle and 5-1 on joining the other stripey filth this January.

How we can have some fans cheering Gabby but turning their nose up at a possible return for Delph is quite bemusing  :o

Not that it'd happen in a million years mind

I'd rather be relegated to League 1 than see this sub human scum play for Aston Villa again.

Sub human scum is a bit much, given the sort of context that phrase normally implies. He was an arsehole for what he did, but that's about the extent of it.

To be fair we still don't know the full story behind it. I really don't think its as clear cut as we think.

Gave us a wink and lied through his teeth.

He'd be the best player in this squad.. but I don't want him back. Eat shit Fabian.

Regardless of the odds on offer, I think his star is still a little higher than joining any Championship side. If there was any real chance of this, he'd be less than even money.

And, I don't want him back either. As for Gabby, please pay up his contract and fuck him off asap. Same goes for Richards.

Can't believe he didn't jump at the chance to stay with a brilliantly run club heading for great things, like us. Oh wait.
