I've got a funny feeling he'll end up playing for us again, quite soon too.

On a pay as you play deal where he gives us £30k every time we pick him.

I honestly don't know what was going through Delph's mind when he did his u-turn.

Unless he did it 100% for the extra money, which I don't think he did as he never struck me as the sort, he must be wondering whether he's just dropped the biggest bollock of his career.

He's made the England squad though which says more about England than it does about him.  He will be lucky to make the cut next year though I reckon.

If Ryan fecking Mason is making the squad Delph will stroll it regardless of how many splinters in his arse he gets from sitting on the bench.

I can't be arsed with Delph but the only way this works out for us (vindictively) is if he loses his England place for the Euro's by not playing enough and his form dips. Because let's face it he's going to get some games and he's going to be in with a chance of winning every competition they are in. Even if he only only plays in 25% of the games they could very well walk away with 1 or 2 titles this season. At the end of the day that's one or two more than he'd win with us. I don't wish an injury on him even if I might chuckle when it happens. He's not a prick for leaving. He's a prick for how he left.

Surely that would be a very hollow feeling, winning  a trophy only having had a handful of sub appearances?

Possibly, although not as hollow as finishing 15th and below year after year ;-)

I think it was about the money. He probably realised he'd never get an offer like that again.

I can't see him ever being welcomed back to Villa Park, no matter how good a deal it would be for us. The way he conducted himself I think it's safe to say he burnt 30,000 bridges that week.

I don't think it was money. He realized he'd made a mistake turning down the career opportunity.  Which is fine. It's what he said in between that makes him look a prick. On top of being a prick for very obviously sticking the clause in his contract and then saying what he did.

He could quite easily have stuck in a clause of £15m+ and they still would have come in and bought him. Tosser.

I don't hold a grudge against him for going to man city. The money will be amazing and he will pick up some silverware even if as a support player rather than a frequent starter.

All that is not the problem. It is all that shit he put us through before going.

That is really unforgivable. Even non villa fans seem to have taken against him for all that shit.

It was a perfect example of the modern footballer.

As it happens, we've signed some decent midfielders so he won't be as missed as we first expected.

There are far more important things to worry about - even in just the world of football - but I have zero respect for the bloke and wish him nothing but disappointment in good career.

Especially as they've just paid £55m for somebody.

Although naive of the club if they couldn't spot the likely outcome of such a low release fee.

The new contract was pointless in every respect but making us get back what we paid for him rather than nothing.

Making a big deal of it was pretty ill advised.

Had the supporters known about it at the time he signed, we would definitely been less cockahoop about it.

He's not a prick for leaving. He's a prick for how he left.

My thoughts exactly.
