I think he can be easily replaced and he will disappear into obscurity at City.

I might be wrong, but I'm confident he won't feature for England much beyond this year

Yes you may be correct, I certainly hope you are.
"I think he can be easily replaced"
Hereby lies the problem. No he isn't easily replaced.

I really think that depends on the formation we are going to play next season.  If we are going to continue with the one holding midfielder with two more attacking players either side, then I think he will be very hard to replace.  If, however, we switch to two central midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 formation, then that is a different role and it will be possibly easier to replace what he would bring to that formation.

Whilst I can understand the anger and disappointment at Delph leaving. Let's just think about it for a moment. Is he that great a player?

He's nowhere near a cowans, platt, houghton, Richardson, Taylor, Merson etc etc. the list is endless. Delph is decent, but we have had much much better midfielders. He gets in the worst England midfield I have seen in a long long time, but that means jack all in my opinion. I think he can be easily replaced and he will disappear into obscurity at City.

On that note - would Ian Taylor have got into the current England team? The answer might come close to judging how good Delph is.

I'm 25 so Taylor and Merson are the only players I've seen properly - I reckon Delph is better than either personally.

I'm also not ecstatic about Micah Richards part in this as well. Delph has dropped him right in it here with those comments about how great it is at Citeh.

Atleast when Patrik Berger told Gaz Baz to get his lard arse up to 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' he hadn't just signed for us.

what part did Richards play? Delph knew he could move to Man City, asked Richards who told him the truth. Were you expecting him to lie when asked about what playing for Man City could mean for his personal finances and career goals?

So why did Richards sign for us then? If its so great at Citeh what are we then.

And yes, considering we are now paying his wages I'd expect him to help us keep our best players. I know if I encouraged the move of a long term, valued employee to a rival firm where I work id have some questions asked of me.

Then again I work at a firm where we don't see our employer as just some mug who pays our wages, maybe that the difference. Loyalty works both ways.

"Micah Richards told me that as far as he is concerned, this is the best club in the world and he had the time of his life here," added Delph.
Strange really as you would of thought he would have been a player suggesting to others to be cautious as Richards was another English player left out in the cold.

IMHO Delph has the potential to be as good as Taylor but he isn't there yet...and he'll never be close to Merson - that's like saying Jordon Henderson is better than Gazza.

At least it's £8 million that's not been spent by their owners on funding Takfiri Salafists I suppose.

A small win for some Shia who keeps his head on his neck for another day at least.

I loved Ian taylor like everyone else. But delph is a lot better, particularly technically

He's not as good as Milner and obviously nowhere near as good as platt.

I have heard stories about Richards getting negative comments. FFS, get a life. He has been onest and he also admitted last week he had no influence on Delph staying. We need this superb defender on board, so stop this nonsense, Delph left because he wanted to, not because of anyone else

He's been in Citeh's stiffs for the last few years and he's not proved himself to be 'superb' at the Villa yet. I'll reserve judgement till he actually puts in a few decent shifts before I know if he's worth it.

Really not at all surprised people are unhappy based on what Delph's said.

We shouldn't be too hard on him yet. Later today the yellow ticker on SSN will probably be reporting that Man City have agreed to his request to rescind his contract and he's returning to Villa.
