"met Delph today, quizzed him on the City move and he said it was never on the cards and he loves the Villa"

Which flies in the face of him ever having a medical arranged at Man City. I'm not sure but didn't the BBC story came from WM ? So, did our lovely local station just make it all up?

It looks that way. Are any of us surprised though? I think we have all been watching the decline of the mail & Radio WM with dismay but they have just hit rock bottom.

If this stuff about having a clause is true, it seems like something that sounds like a good idea but isn't. If someone like City were prepared to pay £20m for him, it would be obvious that they valued him enough for him to be an integral part to their plans. At £8m, it just encourages the likes of City to just go for him just because they can. You see this with Benteke's supposed £32.5m clause, so far nobody's been prepared to meet it.

WM were shit stirring? Never.  How could you accuse them if such a thing?

Does Franksy still do his show in the summer? Bet it's a cracking listen. He'll probably still bring this up long into next season ;D

City Watch @City_Watch
Delph called off his move "after a sleepless night reading angry reactions from fans of the Midlands club" according to the Mirror.
10:05 PM - 11 Jul 2015

I reckon that is utter bollocks. I'd be stunned if fans made him change his mind. More it made more sense for him to stay one of which being he actually enjoys playing for Villa. But to think fans angry reactions were what did it is a bit far fetched.

Sounds more like someone's trying to make excuses for being totally wrong.

Yep.

Agreed. The papers have just proved they haven't got a clue what's going on and now all the people who get mugged off by them every day are looking for the answers in .... the papers.

Lol.

I spoke to somoene yesterday who knows Fabian pretty well and he doesn't think he's leaving from what he's said to him.

I did say.

I'm loving the fact that the best and most accurate report on this was the poster on Blue Moon who said he'd met Delph on a night out in Leeds a few days ago and asked him if he was going to City. "No chance".

EDIT: and Karl's above.

Apparently Rodney Marsh said he changed his mind after clearly being told that he would not make any starts and if selected will be on the bench but he said he would love to hear it from Delph as to why he changed his mind? Make what you like of that!

Rodney Marsh is a prat.

I love the idea of that. So Citeh say 'right we want to sign you Fabian' and Fab says 'sounds good' and then they say 'but your best case scenario is you'll make the bench and you definitely won't start'. Utter bollocks.

Like he's privy to City's transfer and contract negotiations.

Like I said, he's a prat.

As an educated, articulate and rational man with a healthy sense of perspective, I must take issue with this mindless labelling of Rodney Marsh as a "prat". It should be quite obvious to everyone that he's a fucking prick.

Rodney Marsh. Ah yes, the man who bared his arse in front of the Trinity. As erudite as ever.

Rodney Marsh, as someone old enough to have seen him play.  Decent player, not as good as he thinks he was, not as good as the media think he was.  Deaf in one ear and stupid as fuck in the rest of his body!

There was obviously an offer because of the Micah quotes. It must have been very tempting and difficult to turn down and I think it came down to the fact he wants to captain Villa, play every week and maintain his England spot.

Looking at the current Man City midfield he would have a very good chance of starting but were they to go out and buy Sterling, Pogba etc his chances would be more limited; however, if Marsh is seriously suggesting during the contract negotiations Delph was told he would never play then he is being even more idiotic than normal. Clearly they wanted him, for whatever reason, so they are hardly going to tempt him by saying they were never going to play him.
Even as a business deal it would have made sense as they could have hoped to at least doubled or trebled the fee they paid in January.

I am shocked he's decided to stay and pleased. Now we be the time to renegotiate his contract, give him a bump and remove the buy out.

Time to move on from this.
He is staying and that's a fact, who cares what his reasons are.
One things for sure is the media chat shit, he was not having medical in Manchester because he was in Leeds yesterday with his family.
And Rodney marsh is just a total cock jockey, he has always stuck the boot into villa when he has the chance.
