As for the Evil, maybe its Villa correspondents should be redeployed doing something more akin to their abilities.  I'm sure there are plenty of summer fêtes and flower shows they could cover.

Gregg Evans should be pushing up daisies.

It is possible that Delph discussed this possible move with City officials and heard something that didn't sound quite right. Mr Delph is after all a straight talking Yorkshireman and probably thought bugger it Im staying where I am, and bugger the money!

No reason he can't get a pay bump here.

I don't understand why some supporters are surprised at the abuse he received yesterday. He came within a hair if doing exactly what he said he wouldn't do. The "change of heart/u-turn" is great but it shouldn't have even gotten to that point after his verbal commitment to the club in January against Bournemouth. He allowed the situation to escalate, considered taking his talents elsewhere and that was ten times more shameful than what a few silly fans posted on his Instagram.

Glad he's staying. But again, he negotiated the clause so he could leave and his wavering loyalty put him in a bad light. If Randy intervened that's even better, but a quick conversation with Scott or micah really should've sealed it. I'm not apologetic for being upset.

Why, today of all days, do you believe everything you've read about this in the media? The stuff about the clause could be as big a bag of scrap as the rest of the story turned out to be.

Maybe, just maybe journalists are a bunch of pillocks who make shit up.

It's a pre-requisite for some of those employed by the Birmingham Mail sports department.

I kinda missed the furore yesterday other than texts, what exactly was said (by whom) and what do we know know is fact?
Did Man City trigger the clause and Delph rejected them?  Do we know for certain that the clause exists?

I think we should learn that reacting to Media stories is a waste of time and energy.

No one on here knows what happened.

It does not matter if he was approached, considered it, he chose to stay.

Looks like a lot of people owe the man an apology

He was off mate.. like dust off your hands, never look back, off. I'm just as happy as the rest of you that he's staying, but he was one foot out the door. I think we had every right to be as angry as we were. I'm glad he cleared up all the speculation but it seems like he brought all of this on himself.

Thanks for staying, but I could do without the fuggin around.

I think that ITSOTP should of been observed. No point getting angry about whats possible to happen.

How can people have the right to be angry and as abusive as they were to him, when for all we know he never had any interest in leaving?
That's like me smacking someone in the mouth for something, I find out they didn't do it, and instead of apologising and admitting I was wrong, justifying it with "well if he had done it then he deserved so I did nothing wrong, he brought it on himself by not actually doing what I thought he had".

I don't think it was aimed at Delph as odd as that sounds. It was symptomatic of Villa tending to lose our better players in recent years. The disappointment of losing Barry and Milner, for instance. Plus it really, really looked like Delph was going, and after his lovey-dovey video, I can totally see why people were pissed off.

Also, I know you can't really trust the media, but everyone had him pegged as leaving. He pretty much had left it seems but has done a u-turn for some reason. So I think the anger yesterday was sort of justified.

Anyway, good luck to him for staying. Happy to have him on board of course.

Have a look back. Page 106 was where I was accused of being a nose because I would not slate him. 😙
