I don't get it? What's going on?

It all started a long, long time ago.  Then there was this big bang.
Arrrrrrr, now I get it.

To all the people who were ripping into Delph. Yes I told you so. Benteke was reported as asking for a "transfer request" last Wednesday. He is now playing in our first friendly match in a couple of hours. Delph is as genuine as you will find in modern day football. The media will jump on anything now so they are a part of a "story" lessons learned doubters ......

But but but Sky Sports News told me yesterday he was having a medical at the wet oil fields of Manchester Stadium.

I do think that £8 million release clause still looms rather large.

I'm laughing like a drain here.

Me too Mr Regan. What a stunner!! Almost akin to TSM2 walking out with Benteke and a new 4 year deal. This is literally superb news and everyone now knows clause or not he is committed to the club. Now we must, must build on this and spell out loud and clear to him and Benteke that we cannot ever accept seasons as we have experienced the last few. These lads (and certainly the captain) deserve is in return.

Apparently he told the club and team mates he was off so he has either changed his mind or dare I say failed the medical..

Even if it does, where's he going? Man City offered him everything. The fee for any decent size club in the PL or Europe isn't an issue. But Man City would have offered him CL football and a PL title challenge and he turned it down. Something tells me it all didn't sit well with him after what he said and he had a change of heart. As a club we need to make sure we build on this now.

*Engage Smug Mode*

Absolutely fucking delighted he's staying. I would've understood, entirely, if he'd decided to leave but hugely excited that he's staying.

Would it be worth a mod amending the thread title to add on "Update: decides to stay at Villa", for people just logging on who haven't heard the news?
