I'm not really shocked. We are never going to get anywhere if we keep selling our better players, it just means we have to keep starting over which is frustrating and annoying. The fact it's city again is equally galling. If he was buggering off abroad I wouldn't have be so bothered. The days of a one club player like le tissier amongst others are long gone. Modern football stinks and with every passing year i find it harder to be enthusiastic. I am sure I am not alone.

6 years.  He's done his penance. Good luck to him.

2 years at a good level and just as he's starting to fulfil his potential he's off.

Same as Milner then?

I always thought Milner was lauded a bit too highly and thought Young's treatmebt of Villa was much better. But at least Milner went for a good fee and didn't come out with a statement like Delph's. Plus he wasn't injured for 3 years of his contract.

On signing his new contract in January, the England international had said he intended to be at the club "for the long run".
"There was no way I was going to bail out," he said at the time.
"This is my club and I want to be here. That's why I am committing my future."

What an epic weasel.

Hardly Delph's fault he was seriously injured. And again, he may well have meant it at the time and something has changed between then and now.

How many here have been very happy in a job, and had a change at management or whatever and within 6 months couldn't wait to leave? I bet there's a few of us. I'm not taking it as read he's a Judas shitehawk, although that could be the reason he's off.

He negotiated an £8m buy out clause! He didn't mean a single word.

Stop trying to defend it. The intention was clear at the time the contract was signed, it was always his intention to fuck off, which begs the question of why he came out with his lying words and why the club were complicit in the decipt.

And we should say c u next Tuesday Delph, you knob! I have become more cynical about the modern game, but after his statement in January he was ab bit of a modern day hero of mine. I have not felt this kicked in the nads by a player maybe since Yorkie back in the day when I was much younger and less cynical. He has done much more for us and deserved his move to. Delph we have patched up, stuck by, seen through pro form and been shafted by him.
This.

The £8 million clause suggests a fair bit of foresight.

I wonder if the club were smart enough to ensure he waives a "loyalty" bonus, given he hasn't handed in a transfer request.

I'm hardly defending it, simply pointing out we don't know why he's leaving. As it seems hard to grasp, it could be because he's a Judas twat, or there could be something that has made him want to leave.

The reason i'm wondering if it is the latter is because i've seen nothing from Delph before now to suggest he is a shit, and if he intended to leave I really don't see him being the type of person to say what he did as it would obviously massively backfire, as it has. You'd have to be either a right Judas ******, or very very thick to do that video if you fully intended to leave 6 months later, and i'm not convinced Delph is either.

Good luck Fabian, I don't blame you for leaving this shower. I just hope you get some game time, but I'm doubtful. You've probably just sacrificed your place in the England first XI for the Euros, but you probably don't give a shit. Fair play.

Next Benteke. When we sell him I'll stop brainwashing my 7 year old son into supporting the Villa when all his mates support Chelsea, Arsenal etc. I want him to be happy in life after all.

"Football" as we know and love is past dying, it's dead.  So is our beloved club I fear.*

He's a footballer and thick as a whale omelette. He club are equally as bloody dense to have gone along with it.

Judas ****** is an accurate summary.

As others have pointed out, if it was merely just a change of heart (and a huge one at that) he wouldn't have negotiated the artificially low release fee.  He release is nothing more than a Judas shitehawk.  I don't even blame him for the release fee, but there's no way on earth he had to come out with his statement about this being "his club" and how he was in it for the long haul.
