So he's off then? That's a shame.. he'll never get in that team.

Can't imagine Benteke stays on then.

Can we really expect players like Delph or Benteke to hunker down for yet another tedious relegation battle? He's only doing what the vast majority of players would do in his position. If this were any other 'product' I'd be looking to switch as well, but I can't because I'm a fan and I'm stuck with this shit come what may. Which is precisely why clubs, players and the whole game can take the piss out of fans the way they do.

Its not that hes leaving, its the things that were said and the way the new contract was presented thats upsetting people.

100% this , more crap PR from the club.I wonder how many people preordered Delph home kits on back on a picture of him holding the captains armband on Wednesday .....just rubbish by all concerned.

Footballers are c*@nts which is no surprise with the amount of cloak and dagger bullshit they come out with.

Just wish one day they would stop treating the fans like f**cking fools, club included.

Did anyone seriously believe all that 'this is my club' horse shit? It's 2015, you'll find girls in the Bluebell Suite with more loyalty than any professional footballer.

I can't feel much anger towards Delph because he's doing what any player with this kind of offer would do. The club, on the other hand, I'm furious with, for the reasons Paulie mentioned and for the fucking shit they've put us through for half a decade. We're run by utter, utter idiots, but we've known that ever since a certain Scotsman walked through the door, pinching himself, wondering if it was all a dream.

"The club has given me a great platform to perform and a great opportunity to showcase what I can do.

"The fans have been great with me, the chairman has been absolutely fantastic with me and I have a great relationship with the manager and I see the boys here as my brothers, my family and I am delighted to stay here.

"I am a loyal person and committing my future will hopefully show everybody what type of guy I am.

"I feel like this is me - I love the club, I love being here and I want to put 100% into everything I do here. This is my club and I want to be here. That's why I am committing my future.

"Hopefully it will give everyone a bit of a lift and show the fans that we are looking to do big things here and bring excitement back to the club.

"We want to get through this season, do well and I feel the up-and-coming years will be big.

"There was no way I was going to bail out. I am here for the long run.

"The fans have been the same. I am sure they will stick with us, help us get through this season and then looking into the future, it looks promising to me."

I agree with what you're saying but just come out with I'm going to City at the end of my contract because I want to win trophies, be it sat on the bench.

Don't sign for 4 years and think we'll get on our knees in 5 months time because of 8 poxy million.

Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph will complete his £8million move to Manchester City in the next 24 hours.

City are understood to have activated the release clause in the England midfielder’s contract and personal terms have been agreed.

Delph, 25, did not travel with the Villa squad to their pre-season training camp in Portugal and will become Manuel Pellegrini’s first signing of the summer.

The Chilean has been looking for homegrown talent after James Milner left for Liverpool on a free transfer.

Villa manager Tim Sherwood has looked to address the huge loss of Delph, Villa’s player of the season, by agreeing a £9million deal for Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye, with a work permit pending.

Benteke was having "show down talks" and handing in a "transfer request" Wednesday according to various papers. So give Delph the benefit of the doubt before ripping into him .......

Got to say all his bollocks about loving the club looks rather pathetic now. Why bother spouting that nonsense?

'I'm a loyal person. Commiting my future to the club'..... Blah blah blah. Shameful.

It's all been said before, but he signed up and gave a motivational talk.  That and his subsequent performances contributed to the feel good factor of the fans and club as a whole and significantly contributed to us staying up.

Would people have genuinely preferred he refuse to sign and go on a free?

Whilst I understand that in hindsight it looks bad, at the time it was exactly what we needed.  To hold it against him now is just a bit churlish and to liken him to Hodge is just ridiculous.

Furthermore, I strongly suspect at the time of signing he had no idea of City's interest and probably expected to be at the club for a good while.

The fact is, he has done us a big favour and should go with our thanks.

We need a banner. One with Delph's face with a big fuck off Pinnochio nose. Underneath it reads

I am a loyal person and committing my future will hopefully show everybody what type of guy I am.

He has done is a big favour? We essentially paid £8 million for him originally. We stood by him for years through long injury problems. Just as he starts to reach his potential he leaves for more a less what we paid for him. That's on top of declaring his loyalty to the club. Not the biggest favour.
