This I didn't know.  But it emphasises the point about them wanting first team football.  Delph would not be guaranteed that a year away from the Euros.

The thing none of us know presently is who will own the club
next season and what the budget will be. No doubt Delph does or at least has a good idea and it is this that will influence his decision and and potential targets.

It is where we are going not where we have been that counts.

All this business about Citeh wanting home grown players.  They had two that they could have offered new contracts to. Namely Milner and Richards that they chose to let go.
They offered new contracts to both of them.

They reportedly offered to make Milner their joint-highest paid player.
Can't see that. Isn't Toure on 300k a week !? No way is Milner getting that level

He wouldn't be guaranteed it, but who would be keeping him out of the team at Man City?

Fernando played 29 games last season, Lampard played 38 games, Milner played 45 games. Two of them have left and would anybody pick Fernando in midfield over Delph?

Particularly with rumours about Touré leaving as well, I think he'd fancy himself to play plenty of matches if he did go there.

I'm not worrying about this.

If there really is just a 10 mil clause then it could be a problem somewhere down the line, but I'd be shocked if he went anywhere before next summer.

No, nor am I. We're really not going to sell an England Midfielder for £3m less than what Ross McCormack went for.

Manchester City have offered to make James Milner one of their highest earners in a bid to keep him at the club.

But it increasingly looks like the 29-year-old England star will turn down the package – worth £33million – and quit the Blues when his contract expires next month – with Liverpool favourites to sign him, ahead of Arsenal.

Whether that is the same as Touré or not, it certainly doesn't suggest that they were happy to let him go and didn't want to keep him.

I just don't see it, Delph would make himself look a real twat if he left now after all the fanfare surrounding the new contract.

I know the cynics will accept it as part of the game but he made a point of standing against that attitude, saying the clubs stood by him and now it was time for him to stand by them.

Unless he has a release clause that equates to £3m less than what Ross McCormack went for, in which case we'd have no choice.

Not that I want it to happen but we would be at least getting £10m for someone who 5 months ago looked like they were going for nowt

Yeah I'm not sure why people think we'd have a choice if this story about the clause is true.

Delph had no reason to sign a contract in February, we we're shit, looking like going down and playing the most boring football I've ever seen a team play. He did though, even if he goes this summer for as low as £10m then it's £10m more than we were getting before.

I think he will stay though, at least for another season, same with Benteke.

If nothing else, this delph business has illustrated that logic isn't the strong point of a fair few on here and Twitter!

Yes quite. I do believe a fee of 10 is there but only if we were relegated. In that case no one would have argued or ridiculed his "stand by them' comment.
