Staying at Villa is the only way he gets week-in/week-out football, can't risk his England place competing for a place at a "bigger" club.

True or not we could really do without this.

Only if you believe it. If a journalist who has got lots and lots wrong about us before suddenly comes out with a brand new exclusive then what kind of credibility does he still have?

Surely a clause of £10 million would be for if we got relegated. Not if we stay up.

Also, if it is true and he leaves for that cheap, Tom Fox should quit.

He probably wouldn't get into the starting XIs of any of last year's top four.

I'm pretty sure he'd start for every other team from fifth downwards.

Or deserves a medal, as 10m is 10m more than we would have been getting if he had not signed.

If he leaves then he's going to look rather stupid after what he said when he signed.

No-one has said he's leaving though. A journalist who has a track record for getting thing's wrong has revealed something in his paper that also has a track record for getting things wrong.

Seems to be too of it in the press for it  to be rubbish though.

My feeling is that Delph wants to leave and something in the last few weeks has changed to make him decide that.

There's not been a fraction of the stories there were about Benteke and Bent, to name but two, leaving. They never did.

Maybe, but with all the fuss and what was said, it has mugged us all off big time if true.
And I doubt we would be any better off in reality anyway, Delph will get most of any fee, through bonuses and wages i'd of thought.

How many other papers have reported it?

The club has given me a great platform to perform and a great opportunity to showcase what I can do," he said.
"The fans have been great with me, the chairman has been absolutely fantastic with me and I have a great relationship with the manager and I see the boys here as my brothers, my family and I am delighted to stay here.
"I am a loyal person and committing my future will hopefully show everybody what type of guy I am.
"I feel like this is me - I love the club, I love being here and I want to put 100 per cent into everything I do here. This is my club and I want to be here. That's why I am committing my future.
"Hopefully it will give everyone a bit of a lift and show the fans that we are looking to do big things here and bring excitement back to the club.
"We want to get through this season, do well and I feel the up-and-coming years will be big.
"There was no way I was going to bail out. I am here for the long run.
"The fans have been the same. I am sure they will stick with us, help us get through this season and then looking into the future, it looks promising to me."

Delph January 25th. I can't see that emphatic a statement being turned round in 6 months.
