This exactly. But any player good enough to carry a team on their own wouldnt be here anyway - they would be at a top 4 side in one of the big leagues. Benteke did it for half a season and was virtually out of the door. If we had been midtable I believe they would have cashed in when his stock was high.

Make no bones about it, Delph is as good a player as we can expect at the moment. He's publicly stated he wants a future at the club and if we got taken over by some ogliarch who flooded the club with superstars I think he would be the one player to step up to the next level

He could be awesome if he had some help in midfield but at the moment he is struggling because he has crap all around him!

I find Fabian Delph one of the most genuinely humble and self-effacing footballers in the game. He comes across as being truly honest and so when he said a while back that he'd love to stay at the club I believed it, whereas with most other players it would be dismissed as just another footballer talking to appease fans. I think, despite all of the internal turmoil has appreciated that the club stood by him through poor form and injuries. Basically, the anti-Downing in almost every respect.

I don't if it's the broad dour Yorkshire accent that adds to it or not Brian, but that doesn't surprise me at all. When you look at us on paper, through the middle, with Guzan, Vlaar, Delph and Benteke we have such a solid starting point in terms of character and talent. I just hope we can add some pieces to this around those players, including a new approach off the pitch, be it with the manager or investment in the club. It would be such a huge shame not to reward players like Delph who might commit themselves to the club something other than struggle to look forward to in what is such a short career.

One of the biggest problem with out lot is exactly that, BALL CHASERS.

Too many of them do just that, chase the ball around leaving huge gaps where they should be. Basically like kids do up to about under 12 level

I think the problem TV is that too many of our players have been good decent guys. We have had plenty in the past who would start a fight in an empty house. We had one so bad tempered and fiery that he punched a fan who wanted his autograph when he asked was he Nigel Spink. The same player who advocated half a tumbler of whisky at half time.

I'm hoping that tomorrow and for the remaining games this season Delph isn't played so deep. He's at his best with the ball at his feet charging up the pitch. Recently he's just been another defensive midfielder, sitting in front of the defence and we wonder why our strikers get next to no service.

Can't fault Delph as a pro. Love his attitude and humbleness. Apparently he never shuts up and is a joke a minute and like Brian, all my Leeds mates love him and will often ask about him. The lad's a quality footballer and hopefully with a decent manager/coach next season, we'll see an even better player than most imagined possible.

If we have the money in the summer I'd love to see us re-sign Milner. I think he and Delph in the centre with a good playmaker just ahead of them would make for a top class midfield. Without doubt though, we've got to get Delph on a long contract.

Yep, would like to see us go the type of diamond midfield formation that Liverpool use.  A defensive midfielder, Delph and a similar type either side (would love Milner) and an attacking midfielder in front of them.
