Anyway back on topic - will he ever score a boring goal?
I think his first was from about six inches out in a routine League Cup win against Tranmere.

You don't get much more boring than that.

He scored against Brighton first. Can't remember which one that was. I always thought he had scored in a cup game for us early in his career where he picked it up from the halfway line and went past several players in that clumsy gait of his but he must have missed / been saved as the Brighton match doesn't have that description.

Brighton at home in front of The Holte in the FA Cup. Close range, although I can't remember the build up.
That's right - I've just checked, and although I can't remember the Delph goal from reading the match report I can remember:

Quote
Delfouneso hit the post with a rasping effort at the end of a fine individual 30-yard run as Villa looked, in vain, to add the fourth.

It was when Delfouneso did that I was completely sure that he was going to be brilliant for us.

*sigh*

This is the only video I can find of the goal, filmed by a Brighton fan in the Upper North, 5m 50s for the Delph goal, looks like he was on a run. Must admit in my memory it was more of a goalmouth scramble. Shows how shite my memory can be!

I have a feeling the imaginary goal I thought he had scored was against Blackburn in the 3rd round of the FA cup when he made that run. He just never added the finish that was in my mind.

Nah, I was sure this was a run from picking the ball up in our half, and looked like he was on the verge of losing it but his "too long" legs suddenly stretched out and moved th the ball past their player before powering towards goal. But as I added a finish that wasn't there, maybe it was Heskey.  :-\

Why, when you've spent god knows how much on a match ticket, plus travel and food etc. from the south coast, would you then watch the game through the camera on your phone, instead of actually watching the game?  And then end up with footage that 90% of the time is unwatchable.

The most popular post on Bluemoon  on Saturday night was "that Delph is a useful player. Worth adding to our squad in the summer".

Hope the lad is still in everyone's minds by the end of the season , and I hope and I believe this kid will buck the trend , and hold tight , something about him seems different to others

The goal Delph finished against Rotherham this season was one of the best team goals I've seen us score in a very long time.

it was but try and find footage of the whole thing anywhere. It's like we needed Zapruda sat in the upper Doug to document it because trying to find any other convincing evidence of it is practically impossible unless you were actually there.

I know. I saw it on SSN that evening but it seems to have disappeared since, except for the odd one or two clips that don't show the full move. It's also difficult to find clips showing the entire (25 or so passes) move for Weimann's goal at Anfield last year, too.

the CIA refer to it as Plausible Deniability. I imagine in about 25 years the British government will release footage of both events along a number of other state secrets in a Commons paper that nobody will read. Also revealed a flashing light in the sky near Cornwall, a mysterious footprint in Sutton Park and an apology for Piers Morgan.

I read that as an apology from Piers Morgan at first.  Then realised that it didn't matter, as  they're both less plausible than flight 370 turning up on Mars.

Adam Johnson dropping some truth bombs.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/19/adam-johnson-england-down-to-who-you-play-for

"All my caps came when I was at City. Sometimes I got picked when I wasn't playing. Now I'm playing more and I can't get a cap. It's just a fact. It's not me being sour. Some of the players, if they weren't playing for the big clubs, wouldn't be anywhere near it [the squad].

There's some truth in what he says, but he himself has only had one or two decent months playing for Sunderland at best and missed out on one England squad in that time, he's not really in a position to moan
