Guys, the most important thing is to get FD signed up on a new deal before the vultures start to circle...

Please, let's not tout any of our players for England.

He's not good enough yet in any event.

As well as getting forward more and showing his ability on the ball, Delph seems to have cut down on the unnecessary diving in to challenges and subsequent unnecessary yellow cards recently.  That was one of his biggest faults.  He always looked as if he had something and it seems to be coming together nicely for him.

He has always looked like he's got something - he just had that quickness of feet

Not that many on this site would have agreed with you even just a year ago

So let's hope we give Gardner a chance to get Over his injuries

Also another nail in the coffin of the myth that if players haven't made it by 21 you should give up on them. Cf Cahill, Routledge, c Gardner, Ridgewell, etc

The part of his game that would have let him down before is his tackling. He seems to have improved that. He is definitely on par with most other young midfielders called up.

The problem is with England is you get players leaving because they are not being called up and players leaving because their heads are turned when they do appear. It is pretty much a no win situation for us. Unless you are Barry who is called up for England regularly but decides a move to Liverpool is required to get his England place according to that interview.

Some of those runs yesterday were Mortimeresque.

Delph was magnificent yesterday. He's come on tremendously well, but still has further to go. He's going to be some player for us.

It won't happen now but Henderson would compliment delph on the right pretty well both for villa and maybe England. Both have huge amounts of energy and no shortage of guile.

Put a player with good spreading/crunching ability between them (the new disciplined gerrard maybe) and you'd have a pretty dynamic midfield three.

I think Hodgson's already got his 23 sorted. The only way Delph would be in it is if there's a new kind of virus that debilitates average midfielders that play in red.

Oh, and Lambert should sign Delph up to a new contract and build the new Aston Villa around him, because he's superb.

Honestly, just give him a 10 year deal now. I love watching him play.

That's not the most ridiculous suggestion. Get him signed up.

I think Delphy would sign a new deal no questions. We're the biggest club he'll play for and just right for him, plus he seems to love it here too, and appreciate the fact we stood by him and gave him his chance in the Premiership.
A new contract for him this summer should be first order of business.
