Walcott isn't fully fit either. Isn't he actually doubtful for the game too?

I like Carzola. He's a good player, but he was a little quiet tail end of last season, and we shackled him quite well at VP. Giroud is hit and miss. They'll score, undoubtedly. But I fancy us to score more, particularly as our front three have looked incredibly fired up for the new season.

Just off to VP to get the coach.
Shittin' bricks but in an optimistic kinda way! :-)
Come on you Villa boys!

That looks a really good arsenal team to me. Suddenly a bit worried. Oh well, out safety (or beyond) will not be decided away at arsenal.

I look at that Arsenal team and think something horrible is about the happen, something that should be unspeakable, something I don't want to contemplate...

Spurs will finish in the top four.

I'm flying to Torronto at 7am just as we kick off, 4 and a bit hour flight until I can check the score, come on you Villa boys we can win this!!!!!!

Similar situation here. Down on holiday near Aix En Provence and have to take my daughter up to Avignon to get the TGV home as she is not staying with us the second week. Hoping I can pick up some wi fi there! We need to keep some perspective here and remember last season's early defeats against west ham and Everton which really did set the alarm bells ringing on my holiday

The key thing if we do concede is not to do it too early. All the players across the league are nervous today and it could kill any optimism stone dead.

Having said that, i really think Benteke will have a great game today. He already seems up to the mark in terms of match readiness.

On my way into town this morning i saw a family driving up towards the motorway all clad in Villa shirts. The season is most definitely here...

On the train down now. I'm really excited, and the football seems like it's going to be a bit of a distraction from an all day session.....

Just a thought, great idea just using one thread this year. Any chance we can have the links added to the 1st post to each section/page where they begin? I see you can grab the link to the exact msg.

This purely a selfish request, as it does my nut in using my phone and trying to browse to a certain page.

I know im new on here but, although im going with what I said earlier. I agree fully with this quote, on a lot of our supporters, IF we do not win or draw the merchants of doom normally show their heads, bottom line WIN LOOSE OR DRAW LOVE THE VILLA. funnily enough this was said to me on a trip down to norf landan some years ago.

God I hope not. I'm no Gunners fan by any stretch but I fucking hate Spurs.

What must piss off Gunners fans immensely though, is that they're only missing 2-3 elements to have a title challenging squad. They need a 20 goal front man. They need a really imperious central midfielder, and a decent keeper too. Their defence was pretty solid last season, particularly in the tail end when Wenger settled on a first choice CB pairing.

If they miss the boat on too many more signings because Wengers too stubborn, and Spurs steal their thunder, then the patience afforded to Wenger will run out entirely. I will give Gooners fans their credit though, they've stuck by Wenger through a lot, despite seeing them fall from regular title challengers and trophy winners, to not winning anything and scrapping for fourth. Give Utd 2-3 years without a trophy in the last 10 year and the fans would have been baying for Fergies blood. Arsene is rapidly hemorrhaging fans though.

I may be a bit behind the times but can anyone tell me if the match is shown in
Any pubs in Sutton Coldfield area, as it used to be shown live in the Royal & other
Pubs, getting worked up now, the last time we played Arsenal first game away was the
Opener for the new Emerates stadium, we nearly came away with the win as well.
Here's hoping this time

Soccer AM's Helen Chamberlain has a puffy botoxed face. Odd that being a teetotal veggie still leaves her dissatisfied with the ageing process. Smugly, I'll have a sausage and a pint for lunch.

There will be a thread title modification at the start of the match and at the end with a Reply# to aid browsing. Good idea regarding the link in the first post. I will try it out this afternoon.

Greetings from that there London.

On the radio on the drive over it was mentioned that there were train problems at New Street. Did all our rail riders get out ok?

I'm having a wander around Westfield before tubing it to the Arse with the aim of finally finding out if villajk and DC5 are real people or just figments of Legion's warped imagination.
