One of these pictures is of John Sharples. Although the name is familiar I couldnt place which position he played in around 1960.

Wiki says full back . Still means nothing. No doubt other members of the exclusive old gits club can put me right.

My personal favourite is the picture of Pat McMahon's winner v Man United in December 1970. The backdrop of a packed Trinity with the gable is just stunnning.

Also symbolic as a major turning point in our history.

I'm sure I was at that FA Cup game versus Liverpool in 1967.  We lost 1-0 and prior to them scoring a blatantly offside goal Willie Anderson hit the bar.  Had that gone in I'm sure we would have gone on to win as we were playing really well considering we were shit at the time.

Liverpool had all decisions given for them even back then.  St John scored their goal btw.

The abuse of Law after getting sent off in 1963 - some things dont change.....

I can honestly say Ive never been as angry as I was when Law got sent off for kicking Alan Deakin in the face when he was on the floor.

That man (if you can call him that) got something like a six week ban for what he did. Unheard of in those days.

An act of extreme cowardice from a so called brave player.

My third or fourth match. 4-0! United! It'd be like this forever!

the pat mcmahon pic is my fave as it my 1st taste of a big night at villa park as a 10 yr old. but all of them brought back so many memories over the yrs and the pitch invasion at highbury with our massive support down there i looked at those pics for ages trying to pick me and my mates out  VILLA TILL I DIE IM VILLA TILL I DIE I NO I AM SURE I AM

Love the last one on page 11. All the Villa fans at Highbury. Amazing how many black faces are in the crown on that picture especially as the era is normally painted in a very bleak picture in terms of racism.

I don't think those lads - and one in particular - had much to worry about.
