Legend already!

Certainly has made the sort of start most can only dream of - and he looked comfortable against  Walcott for a lot of the game - delighted with him.
Welcome back, Mark.

Opening day of the season, away at the Emirates. You are a defender and your team are leading 2-1 with 5 minutes to go.

Do you
A) Hold a strict defensive line to protect what you have?
B) Play for Aston Villa so you find yourself 1 on 1 with their keeper?

I love this Villa side.

Fucking, a

I've just come off the phone from our kid, who's on holiday up in Northumberland, and I was explaining to him how my feed suddenly came back on when, with us 2-1 and supposedly hanging on for a famous win, our left back got played clean through in the inside right position, gave the keeper the eyes and finished like he was Messi or Iniesta.

Followed by me saying "I fucking love this team!"

Our most intriguing left full back since his forefather Tony Dorigo.

Tony Moon is already a Villa legend. How cool was that finish ? Cool as fuck. Lanza Lions on the Piss, 7 of us. Oh yeah.

Luna's goal reminded me of Chrissy Price's goal at Highbury many moons ago.

I don't envy Joe Bennetts task of trying to dislodge this guy at left back but its a good thing, competition for places is what we have been lacking for a while.

A big improvement on Bennet.

I like Bennett and think he improved a lot as the season went on but it will difficult to get a  place in the team for him given the start luna has made , the competition for places now though is healthy and keeps players on their toes - the bench is looking far stronger than last season.

Agreed. Bennett will get his shot again. I like two hungry LB's competing.

Reminded me of Staunton at Hillsborough. That same "what the fuck's our left back doing there" feeling, just before he buried it.
