That's what Glenn Peen would write if you take out poo poo and pee pee references.

Looks good going forward but am a bit worried about his defence. Appears to have been caught out of position a few times letting his winger get in behind him. Will have to see what he is like when we are under the cosh.

Better than Bennett.

On the evidence I've seen so far, I agree.

Was sloppy enough today I thought, and pretty suspect defensively. Obviously not writing him off by any means but will need to see more from him to say he's better than Bennett on that display.

That's the way fullbacks have gone in the modern game really, long gone are the steady eddies at full back like Winterburn, Dixon, Gary Neville etc.

How many modern day full back can you say are better defensively than going forward.

Man.Unted- Evra and Rafael, nope.
Arsenal- Sagna and Gibbs, nope.
Liverpool- Johnson and Jose Enrique, nope.
Spurs- Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, nope.

I'd only really say Zabaleta at City and Ashley Cole are two of the regular full backs that you can say are really good defenders first and foremost, maybe Baines at Everton aswell although he has sloppy games on occasions.

I agree full backs are more offensive now. But he did look a bit suspect defensively today I thought. You don't want to be letting Walcott get in behind you too easily as you won't catch him.

Would benefit from more protection from the midfield, with a three in there.

Hopefully he'll introduce himself to Walcott in the first five minutes so that he doesn't go past anyone all match (winky thing)

Its something you have to accept with a more modern and attacking formation. Your full backs provide the width but you get left light at the back. That's why you need a midfielder to drop and help out which appears to be Sylla's role.

If we play with 3 in midfield 1 needs to step forward and press the ball, which gives you 1 to cover centrally and the other to help his full back, none of those should be jobs for X though, it should be that whichever midfielder is best positioned to do the job does it.  One of the weaknesses at times last year was the midfielders waiting for others to do the job in front of them.  In a side like we're trying to be you ant afford that.  I'm convinced that's why Bannan is on his way as that was the things he was most guilty of last year (and something he got very little criticism for, oddly).

I know he has a beard but I don't get why anyone thinks he is better then Bennett. Very poor whenever he is tested defensively. Not looking forward to seeing him up against Walcott next week.

Because he looks good going forward, rather than Bennett who is naff offensively and defensively.
