Worst Villa moments of the season.
« on: May 16, 2013, 05:12:00 PM »
Seeing as there is a thread for the best, I thought it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the worst moments of the season.                                                                                                There have been quite a few but my top three would be: 1) Bradford at home; 2) The 8-0; 3) The second half at the Hawthorns.

The week in which we fucked up the 2 goal lead at Albion, went out of the Carling Cup to Bradford and Went out of the FA Cup to Millwall

Millwall - chucking away a lead, going out of the Cup, getting locked in a gaint cage in the snow for 45 minuts after the game, miserable.

That and all the stick from Albion fans. Wank stains, the lot of em

The 8-0 at Chelsea wasn't so bad. Maybe because it was only 4-0 when we walked out of the ground and went back to the pub. And because we'd seen 7 past us at Stamford bridge a couple of years before. Nothing new.

The goal Bradford scored at Villa Park. Closely followed by their third against us at their ground.

The January transfer window was pretty grim. When it broke about 9.30pm that we were signing Simon Dawkins on Twitter I actually thought it was a wind up

The Chelsea humiliation in December. Never again.

I think the Millwall winner for me.  Miles from home, freezing cold and realising we could well be back there in the league next season.

Bradford at home after they equalizer. The last 30 minutes or so were shocking.

The third at Bradford. At 2-1 I thought we'd still win the game never mind the tie overall. By the way I thought the way as a group of fans we reacted to the defeat overall was a credit to us. No tears (outwardly at least, I cried in the middle of the night under the duvet!) and we were very magnanimous.

However now it's way in the past can I now state that on any other night, as subsequently proven, Benteke would ordinarily have bagged at least a hat trick and the tie should have been dead by half time at Bradford.

They were very very lucky!

The last 30 minutes against Bradford at Villa Park was the worst football I've seen by a Villa side in 40 odd years given the context. The five players strung across the front, no shape of any kind, Stephen Ireland hiding among others, and their goalkeeper barely making a save in that time - against a side three divisions below us. That was as low as it got - not just this season, but many a season.

Chelsea, Man City and Wigan. We were cannon fodder and looked doomed. Sad times this season they were.

Wigan home and Southampton home/away were particular low points. Being hammered 3 0 at home by Wigan was humiliating and I thought we were doomed. Southampton made me furious with the way they cheated to win. I really did want them to go down after that...

End of January was pretty low, after the pathetic limp 6 weeks Lambchop went out and signed some unknown from the French second division.

Sometimes, its really great to be proven wrong.

That last half hour against Bradford, words failed me on the night, I drove all the way back to Manchester in silence and I still can't find the words now 4 months on.  The most obvious chance for our 21st Trophy in a generation and we blew it.

Perhaps a mention of the first half against Everton at home back in August, seemed a lot of optimism seemed to vanish in the first 5 mins. The second half was a better performance but it would set the tone for the season.
