Glad to hear it and that Jules is still kicking and breathing.

Glad to hear it and that Jules is still kicking and breathing.

I see him quite often.
He's not really into his football anymore. He'll sit down and watch a game, but thats about it.
He lives off his properties now and does the usual father bit each day, school run and that.
He doesn't really keep in contact with many players apart from Tommy Johnson and Mark Draper.

I always thought that Billy Walker was our top league scorer, but apparently it's Harry Hampton.  Walker is our top scorer in all competitions.

Joachim?  39?!

I asked him tonight how many goals did he get for the Villa, to which replied ''about thirty I think''? He genuinely couldn't remember.

In over 30 years watching the villa no player worried me more with one on ones than Joachim - his finishing was awful.

I'm amazed Yorke only scored 60 league goals for us

He has 73 league goals for us altogether

13 in the First Division and 60 in the Premier League.

Ah right. So he was pretty much redundant from 92-95 with Big Ron not fancying him?

There was a point when he wasn't getting a sniff, remember.  Nearly ended up going to Man City for a million quid but nothing came of it for some reason.

IIRC was it because Peter Reid got sacked at Cit-eh and they didn't pursue him.

Travesty he spent so much of BFRs time on the bench, more so he did well when he actually played.

And didn't BFR often play him as a winger when he did get a game?

Doesn't he still play? I'm sure a few months ago I saw he'd scored for someone.

He did a grand farewell tour of East Midlands and East Anglia non-league clubs, last seen at Coalville I think, but he's retired now.

I think I'd take Joachim over Vassell in that situation.

Still playing for Freiston reserves, fair play to him.

Quote
Former Premier League striker Julian Joachim was on target for Freiston Reserves in the Boston Saturday Football League this weekend.

The ex-Aston Villa, Coventry City, Leeds United and Boston United forward - who was raised in the town - played his part as his side beat Mareham United in the Taylors Peugeot Division One.

Dane Harper and Perrie Dale also found the net.

Joachim isn’t the first famous name to turn out in the Boston league.

Snooker champ Ronnie O’Sullivan once got a game for Old Leake when he was staying in the town.

Had no idea Barry had scored that many.

But I suppose it is only 4 per season.

and I think he took penalties.

Don't start the penalty debate again!

Julian Joachim played against my Sunday side about 3 years ago in the FA Sunday Cup, Magnet Tavern, from Boston, beat us,Travellers 2 - 0 and he got both goals both great strikes which had a touch of class in how he got the shots off.

I always thought Jules was decent. Great pace and when on-form a deadly finisher. The transfer request was probably not the brightest thing to do but he had 3 solid seasons of good goal returns and was far better value than the bloke we swapped him for plus cash, Hadji.

He had a serious bust up with Gregory, which I wont go into details over a public site.

Yeah same for me.

Just a month before we sold him to Citeh he had a one on one at home to Bolton. I didn't even rise from my seat as I expected him to hit it straight at the keeper. Which he did.
