Both our fullbacks were superb, as were Gabby, Delph and Syla.
Benteke of course was just immense. I doubt if you'll ever see a player jump as high as he did for his 3rd.
Absolutely brilliant, Villa.

Lambert said he did not think he had ever seen someone jump as high as the crossbar to head it home. Reminded me a bit of a goal I saw Marcel Desailly score for Milan a long, long time ago when I watched Goooooal Lazio on 4 on a Sunday morning and Italian football pitches looked like something from a foreign planet, always a bit foggy and damp, with real mystery and intrigue. The odd game would be sunny, but not often.

How nice it was to finally watch the last 10 of a Villa game without heartache, chestpains, headache and inverted scrotum!  :P

No matter where people stand on what's happening at Villa at the moment, I think we can all agree that was above and beyond our wildest dreams

The negative for me is the only thing I could think of when Benteke scored that header was he's just signed his ticket out of VP,
it was a stunning header, a 22 year old Drogba on his prime, I know he's scored some crackers this season, but when the money clubs in the prem and Europe see that sort of power in the box they will be fighting to get there cheque books out

Saying all that Lowton was my MOTM, unbelievable performance, like others have already said, the best  performance by any Villa player this season for me

Best new song from the Holte End "We're Aston Villa. We're taking the piss."

I prefer "We want seven". I look forward to singing it every week from now on.

I'd also like to say I predicted this. I am Nostradamus! Apart from predicting they'd get fuck all.

Be nice to stick half a dozen past Sunderland to help the GD. I'm still convinced we'll stay up anyway.

Us: As Many as we want Them: fuck all.

Keep the faith!

Brad's tweeted a good tweet, which if I was halfway twitter competent I'd be able to quote here.

Have a look at the lead pic on the match report on the BBC website. Benteke's head is at least half a foot above the crossbar.

I'd be well surprised if we don't get a bid for lowton on the summer. He's starting to look "Top4" good now he's finding his feet. Thought he was MOTM tonight by a mile with all due respect to Benteke.

I reckon he's got to be pretty close to an England call up soon.  I know he has some mistakes in him defensively but he has a great attitude and fantastic technique and will get better and better in the next few years.

Steady on. He's not up there with Walker, Richards and Johnson yet.

Give him time and he might be.

I think there's not a lot between him and Richards and I still think Johnson is an absolute liability in defence.  Remember Lowton has looked steady at centre-half as well, which is a versatility which will help him get into squads.
Lowton is a decent player with a few positional flaws to iron out, but far too slow to be an international full back.  You need pace at that level and he aint got any.

This bloke is 22 years old. He's got the world at his feet. Build a team around him, Villa. We've got a star on our hands!

Well that was a bit good wasn't it?

Excellent performances from everyone in a Villa shirt tonight (and Cuellar). Probably Lowton, Delph and Sylla's best games for us.

We've quitely been scoring plenty of goals since new year's day and yep those two wins for Sunderland have papered over their weaknesses big time. It's incredible to think how toothless we looked for most of the first half of the season going forward, this is a proper Lambert team now like the one he had at Norwich.

Talking of Norwich, win there and I reckon that will be enough for safety. Great our goal difference is better than a few clubs and will be better than Norwich with a win on Saturday.

Three words you would not have believed would be uttered together at Villa Park this season.

We want 7 (seven)

I think MOM was Gabby - he led by example and I thought he was immense tonight.

Not safe yet - but a hell of a lot closer.

As no-one's mentioned it, allow me to point out that only two players have scored more league goals than Benteke in 2013 - Messi and Ronaldo.

Congrats Gabby and well done Villa.

No idea what happened above, I think i'm too excited!

I have to say i've thought that kind result has been on the cards for a while. It's why me and some others have kept faith in the manager and team. Onwards and upwards. I hope!
