Loves the Villa.
Fell out with Big Ron.
Sold when Little was about to sign Chris Coleman?!?
Thinks while we have potential there are a lot of poor footballers at Villa Park at the moment.

Did he say who the poor footballers were?

He doesn't rate Ron Vlaar at all.

I believe it's his leadership on the field that has been a big contribution to the team's improvement. I agree he's not a brilliant player

Agreed, decent defender but not in the class of Laursen obviously or even Mellberg.

On the villa season review 93-4, he was talking about his goal against Tranmere. He quipped that he thought he was "getting mugged by all these black blokes in the box".

Different times! Not only that he would say it, but that the editors would deem it fit to keep the quote on the video!

Sacrilige perhaps but did Gray not make a valid point that for two lads who were masters at heading away defensive clearances Teale and God's return at the other end of the pitch from set-pieces should have been a lot better.

Met him a few years ago at VP.
Abiding memory: shorter than me (I'm 6ft tall) and had fu** in' massive hands!
He was brilliant with my mate who was wheelchair-bound at the time.
No-nonsense centre-back.
Uncle Frank would have rated him!

Was he manager at Burscough?

He was, and he won the FA Trophy at Villa Park (beating Tamworth) while he was there. Last I heard he was still running his canalside pub in Burscough.
