Brilliant result, was so worried that missing all them chances would of cost us but luckily that screamer from Lowton got us a deserved 3 points.

Alan Hansen reckons Remys goal was better than Lowtons cause he run 50 yards with the ball. What a prick. He can never say anything positive about Villa. Get Paul McGrath on that panel. The programme would be more balanced instead of having a one eyed Red Scotsman ......

Paul did try a spell of punditry at RTE in Ireland but I think he admitted afterwards it was a bit too rabbit in the headlights for him. Johnny Giles did his best to steer him out of trouble but ultimately I don't think it was for him.

He never ran 50 yards with the ball- the only time he touched the ball was when he hit the shot.

Remy's was a great finish, but Lowton had more to do and it was better. As for running 50 yards with it? I assume Hansen didn't watch it then.

I said this on the post match thread Bentekes goal was much better than Lowton's.

Brilliantly beat his defender ran through powerfully and was totally confident he could beat the goalkeeper although he had Bent to his left in a much easier position to stick it away. He then beat the goalkeeper on his wrong side and that was harder than it looks. A quite magnificent goal.

Lowtons was a fine and highly spectacular goal (rather like the goals Cafu scored for Brazil) he caught it just right.

Benteke for me.

You may of course beg to differ?

I would'nt say it was better than Lowton's but it was a great goal in it's own way. It was such a cool finish bearing in mind he knew he could be killing the game off.

From the Guardian's '10 talking poiints from the weekend's action.

Quote
2) Aston Villa would be a big loss to the Premier League

After Stoke City went down 3-1 at home to a progressive Aston Villa team, Charlie Adam said: "He has a good side there, Paul Lambert. They pass and showed intensity." To win at the Britannia Stadium is rare – despite the Potters' dire form it was only a third league defeat there this season – and Lambert's side prevailed by having the courage to stick with the philosophy espoused by him. Lambert is a young manager with a young team who are enjoyable to watch. If they beat the drop, they should emerge from the summer even better and an exciting prospect to light up the division more regularly next season.

It's becoming a consensus in the media, and it's nice to hear.

Having been away for the weekend and only caught the goals on MOTD2 I am inclined to agree. Whilst Lowton's was stunning there was something of the sublime with Benteke's goal.

I understand the discussion about Lowton's goal v Benteke's but as a Goal of the Season, Benteke's against albion was better than both.
