Wouldn't it be up to the new manager, whenever we get one? Stan is now in his late thirties and in my opinion would be better suited to a training role. Perhaps he needs the money only he knows the answer to that question. Whatever he does I hope he achieves some level of success.

My much loved wife was diagnosed with multiple location cancer and I was taken aside and told that six months was as much survival as she could expect.  That was 32 years ago.  We have just returned from holiday in searing heat where she walked me off my feet every day.  I can't speak for anybody else but the chaemo, radiation and surgery have made her indestructible.  I hope Stan is blessed with the same iron constitution.  Anyway, I would give him Guzan's place in a heartbeat.

It's highly unlikely he would 'need the money ' mate, and as I've said, he hasn't had 4 hard premier league seasons in his legs.

Sounds as though he's fitter than Gabby already!

If it's Stan's dream to play professional football again, let him follow his dream. He might not make it, but he'll inspire a lot of people. The man has balls of steel. Good on him.

The very best of luck to him, time will tell how far he can go. If that is far enough to wear a first team shirt again for us, that would be the best news from Villa Park for years.
On a practical level are there any implications as regards insurance payments that may have been received when he retired? I would hate to think that he was denied a chance of a contract if he was good enough because the Club had to pay back the proceeds of a claim.

I'd love the opportunity to applaud him onto the pitch again. It's often said that there is no room for sentimentality in football, but after putting up with the very worst in our history to see a player who genuinely cares about the badge on his shirt would be a blessed relief.

Good luck to you Stan.

Spot on.
However unlikely, wouldn't it be wonderful to see him in a Villa shirt again.

A true professional, gentleman & warrior, unlike most of our current squad.

It's fair to say, he has the entire villa family rooting for him, if there is a chance it would be fantastic.

I agree. If he gets fit enough and wants a shot he should be given one.
