Merse was looking a little trimmer than he has done in recent years to be fair to him. In fact he might have been even bigger at the tail end of his playing days IIRC.

The hug in the dressing room with the woman who has lost her partner to the same disease was a real tear jerker. There are some really wonderful people in this world and he has to be one of them. Really moved by that clip.

Kudos to him indeed, but also to others who've fought that battle and won, including one or two from this site. And also to the ones who lost their loved ones to that battle and who have to continue without them.

Until it happens to me I'll not know how I'll face up to those battles.

Just spoke to my mate who played against his team today he couldn't praise stan enough, after the game he come into the dressing room and shook everyone's hand then had a few drinks after and had photos with anyone who wanted 1. Top bloke
