why did baker go off?

Possible concussion from when he dived for the ball 6 inches above the ground. Probably felt dizzy when he ran for the ball after coming on from treatment.

Just watching the highlights.  What an atmosphere.

Also....watching Brad....what a keeper, who obviously loves the Villa.  Great to see!

why did baker go off?

In related news, anyone know why Barry didn't take the penalty?

Bullshit, isn't it. He has spent a ton of money, had all the goodwill imaginable, and done nothing at all.

I reckon if Hughes had stayed in charge they'd have around the same number of points.

I was appalled by those highlights.  From what I was watching, QPR had a great last half hour of the first half but not much else, that seemed to indicate they should have beat us 6-3.  Pro Candlewax face editing.

Only just got home, what a great win.
Last 2 games the lads have shown great character and togetherness and special mention to the villa fans who have been brilliant again today, great turnout and great support.
Oh and the referee ? What the ...

I think we have shown great spirit for quite a few games to be honest. Yes we had a mad christmas when they seemed to be on the piss more than Oliver Reed, but they have regrouped as a team and seem to be a team. Well done to them and more importantly to the manager

As for Redknapps post match comments, yes QPR did play very well they have good players, but overall we were better and we deserved the win.
Up the villa.

A few extra thoughts. QPR have better players than us. It is amazing they are bottom it really is.

Samba is a beast. I have not seen a defender just own Benteke like he did today in the first half. Astonishing.

Finally I am so happy this team is fighting for each other. Very little finger pointing always supporting each other. Vlaar should take credit for some of that.

Do they fuck have better players. A good player is not an individual entity, but as much a component of how he is able to integrate with those around him. Put in the correct environment and application he can become the player he is capable of. Instead QPR are exactly the opposite and when it all ends in tears watch the finger pointing and ship abandoning. The owner there has put his faith in mercenaries and anyone who thinks Lerner is naive need only take a quick look at the mess Fernandes has on his hands. QPR's players aren't better than us, or really anyone else in the division which is why they will finish bottom and deservedly so.

I thought he was talking about the players specifically as individual entities, though, and reflecting on their failure to form a team.

If you looked at the two team sheets prior to kick off, and you were a neutral, you'd have probably seen more 'obvious' quality in their team than ours.

I actually thought QPR were quite decent. I am not at all convinced by their great escape credentials from their two previous games, but they don't really look like a bottom of the league side. I thought they played quite well for decent spells today.

Fuck them, though, because they went away with zero points, the ******.

Interesting to see 3,000 QPR fans there today, too. I remember a game a few years ago when we played them, and they had the smallest away following I have ever seen.

I remember (it was a boring game) actually counting them, and there were about 160 of them.

On paper, if you think back to their best seasons then the qpr squad is decent, but too many are there for a last pay day having realised they can't play at a higher level any more.  I had them as favourites to go down in the summer and I've never changed my mind about it.  I'd much rather have our squad, even if they stay up they're fucked next year because they're only going to get weaker unless they keep throwing around stupid money for players like Samba.

As for Samba bossing Benteke, he had his hands all over him in the first half, 2nd half Benteke started moving away from him sooner and was much better because Samba has fuck all mobility around the pitch.  A lot of what Samba was doing in challenges is stuff that Benteke has been being pulled up for recently, there were a couple where he waited for Benteke to leave the ground and then nudged him, which should be a free kick but just gets ignored far too often.

However, I agree on the fight we show, we've got a lot of passion in the side and they look like they're starting to believe now, If we can get all these guys really believing in themselves we're really not far from having a very good squad.  I already think we have the best attack outside the top 5.
