For home games, if there's enough time, they post it. if not collect on the day at the ground. That single ticket at Wigan that was on Viagogo yesterday was collect on the day, which could pose a problem, if they decided not to hand it over to anyone with a Brum accent.

Viagogo or the club reprint the tickets sold on that site. I don't see why they're be any need to meet up with the seller.

I've just been looking at the tickets available for Wigan v Swansea and of the many available only one says 'Pick up on event day'.

I've used Viagogo to buy Villa tickets in the past. They've always been posted from the club or had to be picked up from the ticket office before the game if purchased too late to be posted. As they come from the club, if buying a Wigan ticket it would be better to get someone who has a northern address to buy it/them as in the T&C it does say they have the right to cancel the transaction if they think you are an away fan.

Thanks for that info. Looks like I'll have to find someone with a non-Brum address to buy any tickets that become available.

By James Nursey | 25/04/13

The twists and turns of the Premier League are fantastic viewing - largely when they don't involve your team.

People loved the drama of the final day of last season when Man City won the title in the closing seconds of the campaign.

It really was incredible, spine-tingling stuff.

The unpredictability, passion and entertainment of the English top-flight is what helps make it so popular around the world.

But I personally always find it better when it is someone else's team's pride and future at stake.

You can bet Manchester United fans hated that classic final day last term.

And while neutrals may be relishing the possibility of a survival shoot-out at Wigan on the last day - when Aston Villa are due to visit - do any Villa fans really want it to come to that?

If so, to I'd like to breach John McEnroe's copyright, by saying: 'YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS'!

As an impartial hack, I cannot deny it would be good copy for the media.

But quite frankly it would surely be an agonising prospect for all true Villa fans, the club's board and of course the playing squad and management too.

If manager Paul Lambert gets excited at home to QPR in March, can you imagine what he would be like at the DW Stadium with top-flight survival on the line on May 19?!

Wigan have beaten the odds before on the final day and would probably right now take hosting Villa knowing a win would keep them up.

But, at the risk of stating the obvious, Villa have to do everything to ensure they are four points above the Latics before visiting them.

So with the three games to go until then - Sunderland at home, Norwich away and Chelsea at home - are clearly imperative for Villa.

Paolo Di Canio has turned the Black Cats around with his admirable work ethic, intelligent coaching and inspirational personality since arriving.

But both Sunderland (with 38 goals from 34 games) and Norwich (with 33 goals from 34 games) have struggled badly for goals this season.

The Canaries are yet to win in the League by more than a one-goal margin and have also amassed 14 draws this season.

So these are set to be two tight games that Villa are well-capable of getting points from.

I reckon a haul of four from the two matches and a possible draw at home to Chelsea (whose boss Rafa Benitez seems to prioritise silverware in the Europa League) would see Villa safe with 38 or 39 points.

With the worst goal difference in the division too, they simply cannot risk being within three points of Wigan when they go there.

As it happens, I think Roberto Martinez has left them too much to do and will be a victim of his own success after reaching the FA Cup final.

After Saturday's home game with Tottenham, Wigan travel to West Brom on May 4 for the first of four games in 11 days - including the FA Cup final.

They have a small squad as it is and it will surely be Mission Impossible for them this season.

That kind of run would stretch any team's resources and if I was a Wigan player I would definitely have one-eye on the FA Cup final.

So I'm still saying Villa to survive.

And while a final day 'Survival Sunday' would be good for TV and the press, I reckon Wigan could be relegated before then ensuring all Villa fans can breath easily for the first time in months.

I have heard that the Police reason for us not getting more tickets was because of West Ham wrecking the place when they got relegated there.

I'm considering just travelling up there without a ticket, if there's survival riding on that game I can honestly see a mass of claret and blue descending upon the town. It would be ion their best interest to increase the allocation to ensure that all away fans are in the ground and segregated.

What difference does it make whether we take 5400 or 3000 to the levels of vandalism that may be carried out on toilets etc?

All they’re doing is creating a situation whereby a lot of Villa will find away into the Wigan end which has its own problems.

Makes perfect sense. After all we play in claret and blue as well.

So is there to be no further allocation then? There's a waiting list option on the Villa website suggestinh further tickets will be made available.

The other bizarre thing about the police decision is that the game might not even matter. We might be too far in front of them by then, they might be too far in front of us god forbid. What happens then? More tickets can be sold now less people want them?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we get the full allocation in the end. This isn’t a recommendation based on any intelligence and seems a bit daft considering they allow 6,000 Yanited fans to turn up at Citeh and 9,000 Leeds fans to turn up at Yanited.

I have no idea what powers the police have in respect of controlling crowd numbers at a private event anyway.

I have a friend who works for the WMP intelligence and have asked him to ask them when they’re all in on Friday if these rumours are actually true.

Not only that but they are giving Wigan an advantge by trying to limit our support.  Ticket or no ticket I can see quite a few fans going there to give the team a final push (if required, of course.  Touch wood we will be safe anyway.)

I reckon that half a million Villa will travel and we'll get the whole ground.

Or in reality, a couple of hundred or so Villa will get into the home ends and another couple of hundred will travel without tickets.

If it was at VP would anyone be complaining that we had an advantage due to limited numbers of away fans?
