For those tempted to buy tickets for home sections of the stadium (Wigan) be warned that the stewards are under strict instructions to remove away fans from those areas.

That's the same for every ground, as long as you're sensible and don't act like a Man Utd fan can't see there being a problem.

I realise that Chris but I live and work up here and I know a few people at the club (Wigan) - even if people are behaving , as soon as they suss you are an away fan they ask you leave. Mind you I have seen that same line at Villa Park when a young lad and his father sat by me in the lower North Stand - it was against Liverpool and the two of them were just sat there prior to the game minding their own business when a senior steward spotted the lad`s Liverpool shirt under his jacket (the kid was about 5 or 6 years old). Our nearest steward ( a really nice bloke by the way) was asked to eject the fella and his lad. He was totally embarassed doing so but rules is rules etc.

Must be a nightmare when they play United or Liverpool and there's probably more away than home fans in the actually home ends.

Tbf if I was an away fan and sitting in the home end there, I'd just go and find an empty row as you're least likely to be outed if you sit alongside empty seats rather than people.

I take your point but I have friends from both Merseyside clubs who have been asked to leave the ground over the past few seasons.
Having said that quite a few people up here who have young kids buy season tickets for Wigan as they are cheap and they can therefore get their kids to watch Premiership games every other week. I am not sure however what they do when "their club" comes to town!

There will be no clamour for tickets.  We will be down by then and as a result demand will barely satisfy supply.

Can I have your ticket then, Des? ;)

Can you bollocks! I love a good funeral, me  :D

The problem is never being quite sure how others will react. Last season's Liverpool game we had a bloke with three kids (between 10-14 years by the look of them) sat next to us in the UT. We sussed them pretty quickly but they seemd OK - until the second goal when one kid started jumping about. Somebody suggested he may wish to keep it down for their own good (not threatening). The Dad started glaring about and pointing at folks saying stuff about threatening kids - I suggested he move to the right where there were empty seats if he felt threatened but got abuse. They disappeared at half-time.

If I got sussed I just toddled off laughing...

May well be the absolute high-water mark for gallows humour.

With only 3,000 tickets it won't be much of a send off/celebration.

You going matey?  I'd much rather someone like Stoke were in the bottom three than Wigan, not doing our NW meet ups much good since Bolton and Blackburn went down!  I'll be there in any case, so let me know if you're going.

Its only the initial allocation. We'll end up with the full 5400.

It will be nice to wave Wigan off as they're relegated and see Wheelan crying, going on no doubt about Woberto and what an amazing job he has done.

We will never play another league game against them again.

Although it wasn't the last game of the season I find it hard when people talk about the game at Wigan not to have flashbacks to Charlton '87. My flashbacks even include a soundtrack of the number one single at the time. La Isla Bonita. That is why I am determined we will sort things before then.

I must admit I admire your optimism, I just hope that it is not misplaced.

Whatever happens will not disguise the fact that Villa are where they are because they are a very poor side!

The police will make sure we get around 3,000 tickets. They will not want any more than that there.
The Police were saying last night that, if we could be relegated at Wigan, we will only get the 3000. This was in the knowledge that loads of Villa would be in with the Wigan. I think they have got it wrong on this occasion but we will have to wait and see. There will come a point when they have to announce if the extra allocation will or will not be given. Maybe, at that point, Wigan will close sales.
