With our goal difference 36 wouldn't save us I don't think. We need at least 39.

But if 36 puts us down on goal difference then we only need 37 surely?

Logic innit!

If you offered me end of season now at 37 i would not take it , i think we need 38 or 39 .

Wouldn't be lovely to be sitting about 11th wondering if we could get enough points from the remaining games to make a late push for a place in Europe.

Those were the days.

Reading and Wigan you can see continuing to pick up points, so even if they manage an average of 1 point a game which is no great shakes, its going to be around the 35-6 mark. We really need one of them to go completely to pot now they've played each other. Or Southampton/Sunderland mebbe. ATM its 6 from 6 i reckon because i can't see those teams on 30 points not getting at least another 6 points till the end of the season.

Please let it be Sunderland.

Can you imagine the joy that staying up at the expense of them would bring? It would almost make it all worthwhile.

well its possible. Only takes us or our rivals to pick up a few more points than we're expecting and some of those on the 32 point mark could be dragged into the danger zone again.

I would probably take 37 points now if it was being offered based upon our average of 0.9 points per game this season.  Just cannot see us improving upon that.

Aston Villa v Man City      Lose
Reading v Aston Villa        Draw
Aston Villa v QPR             Win
Aston Villa v Liverpool      Lose
Stoke v Aston Villa           Lose
Aston Villa v Fulham         Win
Man Utd v Aston Villa        Lose
Aston Villa v Sunderland    Draw
Norwich v Aston Villa        Draw
Aston Villa v Chelsea        Lose
Wigan v Aston Villa           Win

36 pts and a possibility of survival IF we can win at Wigan. As mentioned earlier, it could be a horrible last day and I fear that our goal difference could end up costing us very dearly. Surprise teams to get dragged in to the mix, Fulham & West Ham?
Final table?

Sunderland    39pts   -10 gd
Norwich         39       -22
Villa               36        -33
Fulham          35        -14
West Ham     35        -19
Reading         33        -23
Wigan            30        -26
QPR               30        -29

I don't care who goes down as long as it's not us.

Exactly clamps- as long as we survive who cares about the rest.

Just done the BBC predictor thingy. Big mistake. I tried to be as objective as I could but got us going down with 33 points along with Reading and QPR. Worse still, we were level on points with West Ham but with worse goal diff.

I have a gut feeling that this could be how it works out but maybe my subconscious got the better of me.

We will stay up on 42 points.

We will beat Sunderland, Fulham and QPR at home, while drawing with Liverpool. As to the away games, we will beat Reading, Wigan and draw at Norwich and Stoke.
